Earlier today, it was revealed that singer, Iyanya, has snagged a new record deal with Don Jazzy’s Mavin records.

His former manager/business partner, Ubi Franklin,  who spoke with Linda Ikejis Blog (LIB),on the new record deal, said he couldn’t be happier for Iyanya.

Read his interview below:

News broke this morning that your former partner, Iyanya has signed onto Don Jazzy’s music label, Mavin Records. We would love to know your stance and reaction to this?
I’m happy for Iyanya. The truth is that, if you are happy for somebody, God will be happy with you and you will be happy with yourself. I don’t have anything against him.

This is music business and everything you do – as far your music is right and you are making the music for the world, it doesn’t depend on the label that you are in for all to enjoy it. I’m happy he is where great music comes out from, a label with one of the best music producers in Africa. I’m so happy for him, today is his birthday and I wish him all the best.

Iyanya informed everyone initially that he was going to start up his own label. This has however changed. Do you feel betrayed?

We are all human beings; today Iyanya is 30 by age. As a 30-year-old man, you are able to take any decision on your own, you can change your mind, you can do whatever you want to do. The most important thing is that from what I’ve seen, trust me he is happy. Nobody takes a decision that is going to be bad for him.. I still know he still has his own plans for his Label. But at this point, I know Iyanya is where good music comes from.

So you don’t feel betrayed?

No No! The only way I will feel betrayed is if there was something he owed me and he didn’t give back to me, but there is nothing like that. I’m happy for him.

Do you see any more collaborations between your team and Iyanya in the future?

That’s the funny thing about music, everything is possible. When you see people in music having issues, just leave them, the wheel goes round, if you check my snapchat, I’m always dancing to his music. There might be a future collaboration, I’m open to anything. I’m a business man, there is nothing we are fighting for.

Don Jazzy Reveals Main Reason He Signed Iyanya To His Label

CEO Mavins record, Don Jazzy, has again proved his genius by revealing earlier today, that he had signed former Triple MG star, Iyanya, to his label.

Speaking on the deal via a statement, the ace producer attributed it to Iyanya’s “versatility” saying:

“From the first time I stepped into the studio with him, there was an instant chemistry and energy. He is an amazing talent and he has great musical versatility.

“This is an exciting time for us and our fans have a lot of great music to look forward to. Iyanya brings his own unique style and sound to the Mavin Records family.”

The new deal came as a result of Iyanya, signing a management deal with Temple Management, a creative talent agency, whose sole aim is to aid the singer in launching a new phase in his career.

Speaking on the new record deal, Iyanya said:

“I am at a decision-making curve in my music career where I have to make the right professional and creative decisions. At this point, I realised the need to put in solid structures in place to move to the next level of my career.

“I think I have found that professional and creative backbone in Mavin Records.”

MIXTAPE: Egbezi – S.A.G.A.R. (Setting Aside Guidelines And Rules)

In an era where people would rather put a mask on than be who they truly are, where so many dreams go by unrealized due to disbelief, fear, and doubts in our God’s given gifts and potentials. Underground Nigerian lyricist, Egbezi (also known as Tha rap scientist) comes out with a strong statement: ‘Our only limits, are the ones we set for ourselves’.

With that being said, despite being an independent artist with no major label funding, the Warri native MC is here with his fourth musical project (his second within a space of 6 months). A mix-tape titled ‘S.A.G.A.R’, an acronym for ‘Setting Aside Guidelines and Rules’.

This great piece of art was completed by a “three-man team”: A prolific MC/lyricist/poet (Egbezi), two producers (Egbezi & Wolexly) and a fourteen year old female vocalist (Happiness).

And all it took to get this tape done was a room studio set up and 48 hours of recording. Given the short period of its completion, coupled with the fact that it’s done by an ‘upcoming Nigerian rapper’ you’re forgiven already if you presumed it to be a trash… cut long story short, check out the mix-tape below, listen with an open mind and let us know your thoughts. Singer Davido, has officially announced his European Tour for December.

The ‘Son Of Mercy’ artiste, also revealed that he will be on tour with his DMW artistes to include Mayorkun, Dremo and Lola Rae. The likes of Danagog and Dammy Krane, who also happen to be signed to the label, were excluded from the list.

 

Recall, Davido, recently signed Dammy Krane, to the label, so it comes as a surprise that the ‘ My Dear’ crooner’s name, was omitted on the list.

On the signing of Dammy Krane, Davido, who spoke to ThisDay Style then said:

“I signed a couple of artistes to my new record label, DMW (Davido Music Worldwide). We have Dremo, Mayorkun, Danagog, Ichaba and recently, Dammy Krane. These guys all look up to me as their mentor.

“Dremo and Mayorkun have top charting songs and are currently making waves in the music industry. Danagog also has been on for a while and he has some good music out there. We are currently working on new materials for Ichaba and Dammy Krane. My team and I are putting in a lot of work to push their career musically”.

Michael Igbelabo, of DNMT, has come out to contradict every accusing word Kaffy used against Davido, in the video she posted two days back.

Recall, on Tuesday, Kaffy, took to Instagram to post a video of herself blasting singer, Davido, for allegedly firing dancers at the  3 Thrones concert, which took place on Sunday.

Not long after the accusation, a video surfaced online showing Davido, performing with DNMT dancers. Michael, who is the lead choreographer for the dance group, spoke to Thenet.ng, denying claims that Davido, sent dancers off the stage. In his words; ‘‘Davido never sent dancers off stage‘.

‘I disagree with what Kaffy. If you want to throw shades at anybody, do it without involving dancers because the same thing you said Davido did to you is what you do to us and I bet if dancer vote we’ll vote you out that you are wrong. You call dancers for shows, you don’t pay them, you take dancers to Calabar and you leave them there stranded, call dancers to your house and put 50 people in one room and you travel round the world calling yourself queen of dance in Nigeria. A queen takes care of her followers, you don’t take care of us and you are putting us in your beef.’
