The ‘Coolest Kid In Africa’ crooner, recently showed us just how protective he is of his fans by single handledly dealing with a MOPOL who dared to assault his fans.

In the video captured by TooXclusive, Davido, is seen performing amidst cheers and chants of his  name from die hard fans during , when the devil whispered to the MOPOL guy to misbehave. Amidst the uproar and excitement, some of the fans made to touch Davido as he edged closer to them but were assaulted by a barely there power-drunk MOPOL, who brought out his belt and immediately lashed out at them.

Not one to see such and let it slide, Davido, stopped his performance and single handedly dragged the officer off the stage, to privately deal with him. Once done, he reappeared on stage, and continued with the business of the night, entertaining his loyal fans.

If this isn’t gentlemanly, I’d love another name for this act.

Few hours back, rapper, Yung6ix, caused a stir on social media with his views on rap music in Nigeria. He wrote:

‘When I wanna listen to African rap I play Yung6ix and SA rappers wtf is going on with the Nigerian Rappers ? Wake up’.

In that same spirit,  LIB, reached out to a few rappers in the country, to share their thoughts on the state of rap in Nigeria and rapper Terry Tha Rapman, nothing only have so much to say also shares same sentiments with Yung6ix.

In his words:

 ‘I kinda get where he’s coming from. I’ve been stressing this for long,when I said ‘rap is dead’ in Nigeria I didn’t mean nobody is rapping. I meant we (being the fans,media and promoters) stopped supporting rap music as it should be at a point‘.

He continued:

‘Now would you blame rappers for fine tuning their style? Rappers hardly get the airplay/support as our pop counterparts so after years we started adapting. I still believe there’s hope. We are far from the days of Trybesmen, 2shotz, Ruggedman, Modenine and when MI dropped Talk About It and MI2. We need more rap concerts to promote hip-hop culture. The few ones I’ve been to were not encouraging’.

Things are definitely getting heated between Harrysong and his former label, Five Star Music.

The latter’s team has finally released a statement surrounding the entire fracas, slamming claims that he begged to be signed.
Via the statement released by Alterplate, and obtained by Thenetng, it reads:

‘It was 8 am and Policemen acting on the instruction of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Onikan, stormed our hotel room to invite Harrysong over for questioning,’ Desmond, a representative for Alterplate said.As a law abiding citizen with nothing to fear, we got dressed up and set out for the AIGs office and on getting there we were greeted by the presence of a haggard looking young man in cheap pair of suit, identified as Five Star Music lawyer.’‘On the other hand, as against the kangaroo statement released by Five Star music earlier today, I wish to also state that Harrysong did not at any time approach anyone or company to sign him; it was rather the other way round.

‘Kcee approached Harrysong on bended knees to help salvage his dying career after he fell out with his then partner.’

On the N5million fee paid to Kelvin Luciano of Questionmark records, Harrysong’s team claimed it was their decision as they deemed it fit to sign him all cost.
The team also bragged about savaging Kcee’s career as they managed to recreate his sound, writing hit songs like ,  first ‘meaningful’ single, ‘Had It Been I Know’, followed by ‘Okpekete’, ‘Limpopo’, ‘Pull Over’ and other songs that defined the Kcee that everyone knows and celebrates today.

The ‘Reggae Blues’ singer celebrated his return in style last night, popping over N300,000 worth of gold Ace of Spades.

Off Reekado Banks debut album, Spotlight, the record Ladies And Gentlemen happens to be one of the stand out songs and I have patiently waited to see what the visual representation would look like and based on my ratings, the Clarence Peters directed video doesn’t fall below par.

The video is quite hippy which gives an accurate representation to the feel good song.

The performance by the boy band and the happy faces just shows that happiness is contagious as it cuts across every walk of life as seen in the video.

Though no work of art hits perfection, this is near perfection.

Ladies and Gentlemen was one of my favourite tracks on Reekado’s album and one of the songs I had bumping all year, so I really anticipated the video to the song and really, it did not disappoint. Could it have been better? Probably, especially with Reekado Banks having to wear the same outfit all through which is quite uncommon in musical videos. The concept about Reekado Banks going international was also spot on and it was pretty fun.

Five Star Music Releases Statement On Harrysong’s Arrest

Yesterday, the internet was in a uproar following the arrest of ex-Five Star Music  act, Harrysong’s arrest for breach of contract.

Via a  statement signed by Five Star Music Lawyer, Mr. C.C Chris, the reason for his arrested was made known. One of the many reasons listed included how the label paid 5million naira to buy off his former contract with Questionmark Entertainment and how He breached his new contract with Five Star. It has become both imperative and necessary to state our position on the ongoing misguided and fallacious news making the rounds in the media between our esteemed record label and Mr. Harry Tare Okri.

Sometime in 2008 when Mr. Harry first approached our record label for a music contract, we immediately declined the request when we found out that he had a subsisting contract with one Mr. Kevin Luciano of ‘Question Mark Entertainment Label’. All efforts then by Mr. Harry to influence our management proved abortive as our position was maintained on grounds of equity, fairness and professionalism.

For further avoidance of doubts on the true facts of the present situation, our management has decided to officially set the records straight, because of negative and pervasive influence being foisted on the psyche of our numerous and well meaning fans.

1. Our first encounter with Mr. Harry was sometime in 2008 when he approached our management for a music contract. As stated above, according to our findings at that time, his contract with ‘Question Mark Entertainment Record Label’ was still subsisting and valid. Obviously we declined when we found out that Mr. Harry’s plans were ill orchestrated against his employers, by walking out on them without fulfilling the obligations clearly contained in his running contract with them.

2. When Harry’s employers (Question Mark Entertainment) got wind of his frantic efforts to desert his contract, a stern and official public statement was issued against Mr. Harry and a certain clause establishing his existing contract was clearly published for full consumption by the general public.

3a.    The tussle continued between Harry and his employers till sometime in 2014 when Harry once again approached us, this time very desperate. We opened preliminary discussions with him but demanded an official document from his former employers relieving him of any obligation or liability with regards to his contract with them.

3b.    Our move to do things right and professionally with Mr. Harry earned us a Twenty Million Naira Legal Suit (N20,000,000.00) from Mr. Kevin Luciano of Question Mark Entertainment (Records are there for confirmation). We were joined as co-defendants with Mr. Harry.

Juxtaposing the above with what is going on now, it is quite unfortunate because “Good intentions counts as much as good actions, and the person seeking to do good is as good as someone who actually does it.

3c.    Knowing the vulnerability of Mr. Harry on the impending legal suit, we solicited the help of certain well respected individuals in the Music industry to wade into the matter, one of which was our dear veteran Daddy Showkey. Mr. Luciano having found out our intention from inception to act in good faith, agreed to withdraw his suit against Mr. Harry and our company BUT, not without consequential and settlement fees of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00, records available for verification).

We paid this amount solely without Mr. Harry contributing a dime!

4. It is often said that “When people sense that someone else is vulnerable, they tend to attack, for when the calf falls, the knives come out”. However, in Mr. Harry’s vulnerable situation, we did nothing of the sort. Rather, we whole heartedly bought all his liability off Question Mark Entertainment Label, and welcomed him as a family into Five Star Music Label, a genuine gesture and decision we are all regretting this present day.

5. Because we are known for running our affairs professionally and legally, we signed a three year contract with Mr. Harry and certain conditions and obligations were specifically and properly spelled out apart from the terms of the contract. Most important of these were his obligations to our Music Label, which amongst others include:

1. That he must deliver at least, three (3) full music albums on or before the expiration of the first term of his three year contract, otherwise the label solely reserves the right either to rescind or extend the contract.

These conditions were never met.

1. While in the employment of the Five Star Music Label, he must not engage himself in anyway whatsoever, whether directly, by proxy or through a third party in any Music or recording business other than that of Five Star Music. This condition was also repeatedly breached as Mr. Harry has been releasing music, going on tours locally and internationally without our consent or paying the agreed percentage to the label.

6. Five Star Music wishes to state categorically that this reckless breach of contract by Mr. Harry stands contrary to our company’s work ethics and will therefore be pursued to a logical conclusion using the full instrument of the law.

In setting the records straight, let it be known that before now, the label refrained from instituting any legal actions against him for his blatant breach of contract, just because he was still considered as part of Five Star Music family. However, his posture as clearly manifested through his lawyers whom have continued to write and make all kinds of assertions and threats to the label necessitated our immediate response for the general public to know the truth and inherent facts of the story. For it is said, that facts speaks for themselves.

We therefore advice the general public to tread with caution and desist from transacting any business with Mr. Harry Tare Okri, as same is both illegal and a total breach of his existing contract with our record Label, ‘Five Star Music Label’. Notwithstanding what propaganda he feeds the public, we further advice that proper verifications are made from us, as there is no iota of truth emanating therefrom.

MY Yet To Be Released Mixtape Has Already Sold 200,000 Copies

Starboy Worldwide act,Mr. Eazi, has revealed that his yet to be released is expected mixtape, has already sold 200,000 copies.

The mixtape, ‘Accra To Lagos’, is set to be released on Saturday, February 11, and it features the likes of Wizkid, Falz, Olamide , with  Del B, Maleek Berey, Dtunes, among others, credited for production.

Via his Instagram page, Mr Eazi wrote:

“The Mixtape Life Is Eazi #accratolagos has now sold 200,000 copies in pre-order! It will be available in your region soon!! Officially out 11th Feb,” Mr. Eazi wrote on Instagram.

He continued:

“Accra To Lagos is an 11-Track mixtape with 2 bonus tracks. It surfaces the root sounds, dialects, energy and styles from the two metropolitan hubs which largely influence my music, Accra – Lagos.

“It takes the listener on an aural journey from the one city to the next beginning with five tracks reflecting the Ghanaian capital, and eventually ending up with five destination tracks from Lagos – all of these on the either side of one “border” track which combines elements from both cities.

Dare Art Alade Talks Love Like A Movie Concert In New Interview

Singer, Dare Art Alade, in a recent interview with LIB, talked about his experience organizing his highly successful LLAM concert.

The ‘Pray for me’ crooner, talked about his experiences with each of the foreign stars he has worked with on the project.

 It’s almost time for another Love Like a Movie concert. How did you come up with the idea and the name in the first place?

I think it was four or five years ago. We were like well I haven’t done a concert in a while and we started thinking, what can we create that can break new grounds and project my music? It started like a joke, all of my team members sat down and just talked about it. But really, it is the brain child of my wife. It is her idea in terms of what it would be called. The final decisions are up to her but a lot of us gathered together and came up with the idea of what and what it could be. At the end of the day, we created Love Like a Movie. It has set a new bench mark, every year it breaks new boundaries. It has set the tone of what production and audience experience should be in Nigeria. It is almost like a Vegas show, in terms of lights, sound dance and music. It is the show you go to and you have the best of everything not just one particular part of entertainment.

Why the decision to bring a foreign celebrity every year? Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland and Ciara have been to the three concerts respectively.

You are talking about only those ones, how about Tiwa Savage, Sound Sultan, Kaffy, Imganeto dancers, and some of our other partners? Love like a movie is not just about one artist; it’s not just about me. When you attend Love Like a Movie, you realize it’s about different artistes coming together to give you a great show. So dance, music, singing, choreography, special artist, acrobats e.t.c  is what love like a movie is all about not about Kim and all. They just add a little bit of flavour. They just bring their own swagger and hype. It’s not just about Kim, Kelly or Ciara, they just bring a little bit of spunk to the show. They are just icing on the cake.

LIB: They were rumours you paid Kim Kardashian $1millon to make an appearance at the Love Like a Movie 1. How true is the statement?

Those are old hearsay. How much Kim was paid, neither she nor I can tell anybody because it is contractual but it no were near the rumored amount. If I had that kind of money at that time, I know where I would invested it.

 What was it is like working with Ciara?

It was great, that wasn’t even her first time in Lagos, It was probably her fourth time but that was the most she enjoyed herself. I think between meeting us and working with us, I think she enjoyed the energy and when people enjoy themselves, they tend to let loose and relax and enjoy their surrounding a lot more.

How is it different from working with fellow Nigerian artistes?

They are different because they are different. They come from different background. The comparison really isn’t there. They have different orientation, professionalism, they are exposed to different things but at the end of the day, there are lots of similarities. Example, the talents, a lot of us are even more talented than these guys.  But consistence and constant rehearsal and working on your craft, I would say gets different between us and them. With them, they have everything at their disposal, infrastructures studios, space and others.

Between, Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland and Ciara, which of them did you enjoy working with the most?

That’s a tough one. Kim was good, to be honest. She was here for almost two days and she gave interviews. I can remember her doing an interview with Gbemi of Beat FM. She had dinner with our VIP guests. I am sure Lily green room can attest to this, I was having my throat tea; she usually makes it using herbal throat tea and other stuffs. While we were gisting as we waited for the show to start, Kim asked me ‘what am I drinking?’ You know she was pregnant at that time and when you’re pregnant, in as much as you want to try different things; you also have to be careful because, you are carrying a child. So I was quite surprised when she asked me what I was drinking and that she wanted to taste it. She took my cup and had a sip of it and she liked it. I had to ask Lily to make a fresh cup for her. Kim was really down to earth. She had a flight to catch that night of the show, it wasn’t a private jet or anything so she needed to go but she said she would have really loved to watch the show just that she also needed to go to the airport. She decided to say hi to everybody on stage and introduced the show before she left. She did a lot more than why she came, she did the red carpet. It was a great experience.

Kelly was amazing, I still suspect that their baby was conceived during love like a movie because she came with her husband. They were not married then, they got married soon after. Love Like a Movie can take credit for some of these issues..lol

Ciara was great, dancing kukere, shoki and all that. It was a blast. Each of them has a different dimension to love like a movie in terms of the experience in general. So I don’t have a favourite.

Who is coming this year for Love Like a Movie?

I don’t know. If I knew, I wouldn’t even tell you. But as usual, when it does happen, it promises to be a well put together show.
