Sony West Africa Boss Responds To Ycee’s Scam Claim
Tinny Entertainment rapper, Ycee created a big scene on the internet by calling out the head of Sony Music Africa, Mr Michael Ugwu, accusing the Sony official of ‘milking’ him and reaping off his hardwork and sweat.
Using series of tweets, the rapper poured out his frustration at the deal he had earlier signed with the music company and he warned other artistes to take cue from his situation and avoid dealing with the devil.
However, the accused music business professional and GM of Sony Music Africa, Mr Michael Ugwu has responded to the rapper’s ‘libelous’ claims. Using the same medium as the rapper, Mr Michael Ugwu made an attempt to absolve himself from the blame.

I Was Chased From School Because I Couldn’t Pay My Fees – Olamide [WATCH DETAILS]
While addressing an audience made up of students at the second edition of the Summer Camp organized by the Ogun State Government, Olamide spoke about his humble beginnings and his high climb to the top. In his speech, he revealed why he does not hold a degree.
The rapper, who was a student of TASUED at some point, said he dropped out of the school because his parents could not fund his educational program.
Acting in the capacity of a motivational speaker at the event, the YBNL boss shared his success story with the students. He said:
“I am from Ogun State here, I do not joke with my culture and language, in fact, I came from a poor background. I had to drop out of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, when it was getting difficult for my parents to pay my school fees.
However with doggedness, perseverance and hard work I was able to find myself where I am today.”

Wizkid Picks New Date To Drop His Song With Future
Wizkid had earlier led his fans to believe that his highly anticipated collaboration with Future would be released at a specific time on August 30th, 2017. However, the said time passed without a musical release by the Star Boy.
This caused mild agitation amidst fans on a twitter and a question was directed at Wizkid, asking him to give an explanation about the failed promise. The Star Boy humorously responded to the question and he made it known to the public that the song be released tomorrow, August 31st, instead. In his attempt at humour, he seemed to have mocked the President of the country, using a crude satire.

D’Banj Attempts Trap Music With “El Chapo” . . Hit Or Miss?
Truth be told, we were staunch believers of the gospel that D’Banj just needs to give it all up and stop his attempts at music. We admit that, and quite unashamedly too. But the release of his latest compiled effort, King Don Come has given plenty reason to consider retracting that thought and hold our tongue. I mean, the album topping iTunes chart already says a lot about it’s reception.
On this post, we bare our honest-abe thoughts on D’Banj’s “El Chapo” – a fine blend of afro and trap music genres featuring the lyrically brash Gucci Mane and the vocal genius of Wande Coal.

- Honestly, I thought we were gone past this but it’s evident to say that D’Banj is not done with us yet. Words can’t express how I feel ’bout this new record which features Wande Coal and Gucci Mane. Without much ado, I will just give my take in one word, AWESOME!!!
- At first I had already assumed that D’Banj will flop on this track but he gave me a striking shock with his vibe and flows on it. Though I think Gucci Mane ain’t the perfect international act to feature but I love the thugs and the guns in the video. Thanks to Wande Coal for killing it also, big-ups D’Banj!
- Oshey! Bangalee a.k.a young Pablo Escobar. So D’Banj decided to give trap music a trial and I must say his delivery is flawless. Although, let’s not forget that not everybody will buy the sound. Wande Coal again proves he can slay any genre. I was not feeling Gucci Mane’s verse but WTF it’s all aesthetics. Can’t wait to listen to King Don Come.
- International collaborations have become the sine qua non of our music industry. It is a race and most, (if not every) artiste is on the track, looking to stay shoulders and head above others. In this regard, D’Banj is in the front line. Having a gangster rapper like Gucci Mane on a narco-themed record like El Chapo, is brilliant and commendable. I think the song was on a mid-level until Wande switched things up. But if NBC or broadcasters can place an embargo on Olamide’s Wo!, then D’Banj’s El Chapo should get similar treatment.
- For me, trap music is tricky. I’m not exactly a fan of trap because it almost always sounds the same and that gets me very bored quite easily. Not D’Banj’s El Chapo though, this one is pure litness! Maybe it has to do with how he’s sounding original, like the D’Banj we used to know, not tryna fake/fuss foreign vibes… or perhaps the unique fusion of afro elements in the musical sounds. I also like the toughness Gucci Mane’s verse added to the song, a song of this nature really needed that kind of depth. And then Wande Coal! Boy, he only came to slay.

Ycee Blasts Head Of Sony Music Africa, Says The Deal Is A Scam
Tinny Entertainment artiste, Ycee recently put an individual believed to be an executive of Sony Music, on blast. The rapper tweeted degrading words at the man named Michael Ugwu and believed to be running the operations of Sony Music in Africa.
Ycee who signed a deal with the international company in 2016, accused the company of milking artistes and his tweets suggests that he sees the “Sony Deal” as a greek gift. From his post, it is clear that Ycee feels cheated by Sony Music and he accused of them of “raping” their signed acts.
The rapper’s dissatisfaction and criticism of Sony Music is similar to the claims of Davido, when he publicly criticized the company and its management. Before now, the “Sony Deal” was considered as a prop towards achieving the goal of globalizing the African sound but with the claims of Ycee and Davido, it seems there is more to it than meets the eye.

London Officials Stop Felabration Event Over Licensing Expiration
The Felabration event which was billed to hold at the Notting Hill Carnival yesterday in London, was canceled due to license expiration.
The event which was organized to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, did not hold because the organizers of the event failed to secure license for the event.
According to a security personnel at the venue, the event did not take place because “the licence to hold a live performance expired on the preceding day.”
One of the members of Fela’s management team later spoke on the issue and revealed that the organizers should have processed the license six months prior to the event. He later confirmed that “it (the event) is not happening.”
Another member of the team quipped “l’m glad I’m going to Lagos for the proper Felabration in October.”
Reacting to the situation, Femi Kuti said: “we trusted people who live in the UK and are supposed to know the rules but they let us down and we can’t even find them to tell us the truth. We have learnt a big lesson but we assure all lovers of Felabration that next year will be stronger and better.”

It goes without saying that Temitope Adekunle, aka Small Doctor, is one of the hottest musicians in the Nigerian music industry right now. The young man has been busy travelling around the world, performing at shows to the delight of his teeming fans. However, it also seems the singer is increasingly finding it difficult to stay out of trouble.
A leaked video of a person who bore a striking resemblance to the Agege-born entertainer was posted online recently. In the video, the dimunitive singer can be seen stroking his manhood with one hand, while apparently recording the act with his other hand.
In his reaction, Small Doctor claimed that the video was the handiwork of a hacker. He told Sunday Scoop, “My Snapchat account was hacked and that is all I have to say.”

I Inspired Psquare, Dbanj, Wizkid, Timaya, Asa – Sound Sultan Declares
Veteran singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, made a bold declaration in his recent interview with Vanguard Newspaper. The singer who is revered and celebrated for his success at maintaining a fine music career that has spanned decades, said that he mentored and inspired some of the biggest artistes in the industry today, including Psquare, Dbanj, Wizkid, Timaya and Asa.
In his words, “so many artistes that are big now, when they were budding artistes I inspired and motivated them, from Psquare to Wizkid, Dbanj, Timaya, Asa and all other guys.”
The Jagbajantis crooner had earlier revealed that he gave Wizkid his first collabo and the Star Boy has never hidden his respect for Sound Sultan. It is reported that Wiz refers to the slim and tall singer as his ‘Uncle.’
The statement made by Sound Sultan in the interview, explains why he commands so much respect in the industry and it is going to change the way he is seen by Nigerian music lovers of the younger generation. The singer went ahead to say that he is not threatened by the successes of his mentees and that he plans to stretch his career even further.
“That I want to mentor young up and coming artistes doesn’t stop my own career movement, it’s more like a positive energy; it’s not something you need to take a break from. You don’t have to wait for your fire to die down before igniting another person’s, while your fire is burning you can use it to ignite another person’s fire, so they could feed off the good energy that you emit. That’s why I’m always here; I feel I’ve already done my own thing, all I do now is to satisfy my fans, use the attention and limelight to influence another person”, he said.

Listen To Wizkid’s Deleted Verse From Drake’s One Dance
One Dance is a massive record on which Drake featured Wizkid and Kyla Reid. The song is one of the commercially successful songs off Drake’s Views album and its success extends to the Billboard Music Awards, where it won multiple awards.
Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid has been duly credited and awarded for writing the rave single but it appears he actually wrote and recorded a verse for the song that somehow failed to make the final cut. The Starboy only had minimal vocal contribution on the publicized version of the One Dance song.
However, a video in which an unshared version of the song with Wizkid’s original verse playing audibly, has surfaced on the internet suggesting that Drake deleted Wizkid’s verse from the One Dance song he put out and that we are familiar with.
