Fine Girls vs Money – Moriah Reveals The Real Reason Why He Decided To Do Music

Afro R&B rising star, Moriah is on this episode of TX Fresh Face.

Perhaps one of the realest sessions we have enjoyed on the Fresh Face videos platform, Moriah describes his career come-up as a typical hustle. During his session, he made bold to dismiss the thought that he had musical forms from his mother’s womb (like is the claim with many artistes today) while stressing on the effort he put in learning the art form of singing.

Moriah is a Computer Science graduate from the University of Legon, Ghana. He also just got signed to a music label company. When asked his 5-year projection, his impressive response was that he’ll still be dreaming because it’s never really a one-way street thing with the hustle. Every level conquered comes with a whole new field of possibility to hope for.

Amongst these things and more insightful reveals that he shared on his session before performing live to his newly released music single titled, Kojo.

VIDEO PREMIERE: Tito Da.Fire – One Kiss

In view of Grindiin Record’s determination to further project African music to the world, we are proud to unveil our frontline artiste Tito Da.Fire and premier visuals to his latest musical work “One Kiss”, directed by award winning director AJE Filmworks.

Grindiin Records was founded in 2015 with a vision to create footprints for talented African artistes on the global music scene especially at a time when the entire world is focused on African and Nigerian Music.

Grindiin Record’s choice of Tito Da.Fire as its second artiste was propelled by its connection to his body of work which the label feels can compete favourably on a global stage coupled with Tito’s versatility and understanding of the Nigerian Music terrain.

To achieve this feat, it has teamed up with Dicotyledon Entertainment Limited owned by
(one of the music industry respectable and experienced brains) Tony Anifite aka “Don T”
founding partner NOW MUZIK and executive director, Hypertek Digital.

“One Kiss” Video was directed by AJE Filmworks and shot on various locations in Lekki, Lagos Nigeria. The visuals aptly capture the blend of sounds and imagery that present a cross cultural appeal. “One Kiss” was produced by US- based Mantra whose credits include Future- Selfish ft. Rihanna in collaboration with MDL- producer of Justin Bieber- What do you mean. Tito Da.Fire addition of typical afrobeat lyricism and rhythm along with the talking drum gave the song that Afro-pop appeal.

“One Kiss” is currently receiving heavy rotation on Nigerian Radio Stations and feedback
thus far from “One Kiss” audio in African countries such as Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and South Africa indicates that “One Kiss” is a lover’s delight.
A tour in support of the music is to be announced in the next few weeks.

Wizkid’s “Manya” Video Taken Down From YouTube

It appears that Wizkid is currently faced with troubles as regards putting out local content. The song, Manya which is popularly believed to be owned by Weezy, was actually released as a  product of Mutay of Legendary Beatz. The video of the song was originally put out on the account of Starboy rather than Wizkid, but now the video is not longer on the Starboy youtube account but on Mutay’s YouTube account.

It is said that due to Wizkid’s international deal with Sony Music, there is limitation to the amount of local content Wizkid can release. The most recent report that the video to Manya has been taken down from the Starboy YouTube account, could be a consequence of Wizkid not getting due approval to put out the song from his international associates. The song was number one trending song before it was taken down, now if you search for the video, you wont find it on the Starboy Youtube account nor on Wizkid’s VEVO.

Burna Boy Police Drama: Mr. 2kay’s Label Speaks Out Amidst Controversy

We would like to use this medium to appreciate Mr. 2Kay’s fans for all their support and messages when he was attacked on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos where he performed at Buckwyld & Breathless, organized by Buckwyld Media. Like you may already know, Mr. 2Kay was attacked in his hotel room at gun point by four men who pretended to be the hotel’s room service attendants.

Mr. 2Kay was brutalized and robbed of his belongings. The robbers also took Mr. 2Kay’s friend’s items who was also in the room when the robbers gained entrance.

The management of Eko Hotel reported the incident to the Bar Beach Police station and an investigation file was opened immediately. After taking statements from Mr. 2Kay’s team, his road manager, Samuel Michael was detained for allowing Burna Boy’s manager, Joel Kantiok to follow him to Mr. 2Kay’s room after 2Kay’s performance that evening. Mr 2kay’s road manager was later cleared by the Police after interogation.

In less than 48hrs, we were told the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi had requested for the case file as the case was transferred to Federal SARS Headquarters in Ikeja. In the course of their investigation, the Police arrested 3 boys who confessed that they were contracted to deal with Mr. 2Kay.

According to the commissioner, the robbers confessed that Joel Kantiok informed them of Mr. 2Kay’s room 0847 where they assaulted Mr. 2Kay. The robbers said they were paid by Burna Boy to “Teach Mr. 2Kay a lesson,” hence the Police declared Burna Boy wanted.

As lawful representatives of Mr. 2Kay, Grafton Entertainment would love to use this opportunity to clarify some of the information that have been going round in recent time.

1. Mr. 2Kay has not made any comment regarding the details of his attack at Eko Hotel on Sunday October 22, 2017.

2. Any other statement, quotes or opinion by anybody outside this official statement by Grafton Entertainment is invalid and inconsequential.

3. Grafton Entertainment through our lawyers and the management of Eko Hotel are in talks regarding the incident that took place in one of their rooms.

4. Our going to court is dependent on the outcome of the talks between our lawyers and Eko Hotel. The public will know if we get to that point.

5. Any further information about this case should be addressed to the Police as Grafton Entertainment did not conduct or influence Police investigation in any way.

6. This case about the robbery and assault with the police is a criminal case and not a civil case

Once again we thank the general public for their concern and well wishes. We will also appeal that Mr. 2Kay’s fans, the media and the general public allow the Police complete their investigation, even as we commend them for the great job done so far.

We are confident that the Nigerian Police are capable of handling the case

Thank you,

Signed

Olamide & Phyno’s Management Release Statement On “Fake” Toronto Show

TX news had earlier reported that violence erupted at the planned Olamide & Phyno’s Toronto tour where the two were supposed to performed but did not show up. The promoter of the show announced to the gathered audience that Phyno’s absence at the show was due to an illness. The audience must have felt scammed, having paid for the ticket, so they reacted in a way that led to violence, causing properties at the venue of the event to be damaged.

Both artistes have come out through their managements, to give an explanation on the issue and why they failed to perform at the event. According to the statement released by their managements, the show promoter, one Prince George Entertainment had defaulted on their earlier agreement. The statement which was signed by both YBNL and Penthauze Entertainment read:

“We humbly apologize to our fans who bought tickets for The Culture Tour in Canada. Olamide and Phyno love and adore their fans and did everything within their power to ensure they performed at the event. However the promoter Prince George Entertainment defaulted on the our agreement . It was announced at the venue during the show that Phyno was sick and he couldn’t perform which is a lie . Phyno wasn’t sick and was/is in good health. Olamide and Phyno met up with all obligations to make the event a success and where present in Canada ready to perform but the promoter Prince George Entertainment refused to honor our agreement. Our humble apologies once more as we understand a lot of fans sacrificed so much to be at the event.”

Dear Kiss Daniel Fans, G-Worldwide Is Not The Devil

Hello, esteemed fans of Kiss Daniel I greet you. I do not come looking for trouble, as always, I wrote this piece to share my thought, although unpopular, on the news about Kiss Daniel’s exit from G-Worldwide to launch his own imprint, FLYBOY I.N.C.

One does not need the most discerning eyes to see that you fans of Kiss Daniel are gathered in a celebratory mood. I love Kiss Daniel too but I’m not as excited about his recent move, as a lot of other fans, instead I’m curios and anxious to see how things unfold.

Contrary to the widely held belief that Kiss Daniel was “caged” at G-Worldwide, I think that despite their strict policies, the label did a great job in turning the then unknown Kiss Daniel into a figure tipped to become a “global brand and a successor to the internationally thriving Wizkid.” I believe the policy against non-label collaboration contributed to the success of Kiss Daniel’s brand and for that, I think the Kiss Daniel Fans Association should accord Emperor Geezy & his team their deserving respect.

In about four years of Kiss’ bedding with G-Worldwide, he established himself as a special talent; consistently putting out hit records, releasing a commercially successful and critically acclaimed album; and some comical social media posts (I so much like that Chukwuka joke), which further endeared him to fans. All of these together, formed a thought that Kiss Daniel had a good environment to explore his many talents and mould it into one loveable brand.

However, G-Worldwide was deemed unfit for him by fans and some persons in the industry, especially because of their policy against non-label collaborations. It is quite understandable, music collaborations between artistes have produced some amazing musicals. Some artistes are known to slay songs whenever they’re featured and for this, they are in high-demand, artistes like Wizkid, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks and co.

ALSO READ: Why Olamide’s #LagosNawa Album Might Disappoint You

Kiss Daniel fans want that for him too, I get. I have no doubt that the thought of how delightful it would be to see Kiss collaborate with Wiz, WCeezy, Reeky & co. has led to the bad name given to G-Worldwide, since the label stands against anything of sort. Even Kiss himself, has yearnings to work with his idols and colleagues, believing it would help his career surge.

But this freedom-to-collaborate scheme comes with a risk of its own and I think Kiss’ fans should put that into consideration. As much as I love Kiss’ music, I wouldn’t want to see him jump on every song. Several artistes are waiting to invite him for collaborations and I fear they might abuse his beautiful and untainted talent. As soon as Kiss becomes a free-for-all artiste, we might start to see him put half-efforts into songs.

For now, there is almost no whack Kiss Daniel track but in the season of collabos, you can be sure to find some.

Recall the words of Emperor Geezy, “I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Fela, Oliver de Coque, Osita Osadebe, King Sunny Ade and so many others, and when I look at how music was created and marketed then, I see that these men, beyond being such amazing creatives, put a lot of effort into creating unique identities that created a certain mystique about them; helping to drive increased followership” (Read full statement here).

So my dear Kiss Daniel fans, G-Worldwide was never an enemy of progress to Kiss Daniel. They have a standing principle for their artistes, which is for the artiste to “work hard enough to put themselves in the spotlight without having to leverage on features and collaborations.” It worked tremendously for Kiss Daniel, it is yet to yield similar result for Sugarboy. So the fact is, in the case of Kiss Daniel, G-Worldwide is justified (I’m taking about the musical aspect, not the financial aspect.)

Now that you fans have gotten what you want, and Kiss is on a new vehicle labelled FLYBOY I.N.C. I wish him the best but I fear for the worst.

*fingers crossed*

Yours truly,
Oluwatobi Ibironke
