Are These The Top 5 Struggling Artistes In The Industry?

Every big artiste has their drought phase, for some it comes early, while other experience theirs much later in their music journey. Countless artistes both in Nigeria and globally have been forced into ‘hiding’ due to their inability to conquer this struggling phase.

In Nigeria, struggling artistes are usually spotted very quickly from the decisions they make which are mostly perceived as desperate. While putting up a glamorous front to their fans, some of these artistes actually find it difficult to score themselves a hit single and this can sometimes never happen.

Today we outline for you a number of artistes who recently have been struggling with getting back to the peak of their career.

Ycee

You might feel it is a little too early to have him on this list but we beg to differ. Since his formal introduction into the music scene back in 2015, the Omo Alhaji crooner has been able to stay afloat thanks to a few numbers back to back hit singles leading up to his first EP, “The First Wave”. It’s been over a year, 3 singles later and Ycee can’t seem to find his formula.

Korede Bello

Dubbed as Mavin Records “Wonderkid”, Korede Bello went from being an eye catcher of the label to their most silent music act. The singer’s career has taken a heavy dive since he dropped his first and probably only hit single, Godwin. In 2017, he dropped his 11-track debut album “Belloved” and certainly everybody including him moved on quickly from it. The singer’s struggle continued despite featuring Lil Kesh on a remix of “My People” and dropping several other singles.

Lil Kesh

From a Back to back hit maker to someone we rarely see! That is the story of this once loved, YBNL soldier. Lil Kesh dropped one of the best LP in the year 2016 and failed to follow up on that masterpiece. His switch in management/ label has certainly affected his career. Musically, not much has changed which is why songs like Fake Love, Love story & Apami did not do well.

Sean Tizzle

Sean Tizzle’s race started off with hit singles all the way to his debut album ‘The Journey”. The singer at a time was arguably one of the biggest artistes out of western region of Nigeria. His career however took a dive somewhere between switching producers to controversies about his skin color.

9ice

With much respect to what he has done in the music industry, 9ice at a time went silent for several reasons including Political aspiration, marital issues and leaving his first producer ID Cabasa. However, since he staged his mini comeback in late 2016 with songs like Economy and Living Things, the iconic singer has been finding it difficult to stay afloat. Not many are aware that he recently dropped an album this year, his 11^th album within a 12 year career span.

“FAKE LOVE” VS “ASSURANCE” – WHICH DO YOU PREFER?

Music superstars Davido and Wizkid are heavy on their new found bromance. Both singers have celebrated and congratulated each other over their most recent feats of victory, having sold out successfully, their concert shows in South America and London respectively. However, the platform of music releases is still one way in which they are being pitted against each other.

This time, it is their songs “Fake Love” and “Assurance” that are jostling for the number one spot on music countdown charts and playlists. While Davido’s song peaked on the charts for over four weeks now considering it dropped ahead of the Starboy’s link up with Port Harcourt’s first son – Duncan Mighty, their collaboration, strategic in its nature, has equally shot up the charts in very little time, tensioning Davido’s position on the charts.

Even though, Olamide & Wizkid’s Kana, Tekno’s Jogodo and Mayorkun’s Bobo retain their positions on the playlist this week, the dilemma is with the coveted number one position which both songs rightfully deserve but only one can have.

We’re Still After Kizz Daniel Despite Name Change – G-Worldwide

Super talented singer, Kizz Daniel recently changed his name from ‘Kiss Daniel’, allegedly because of his court troubles with his ex-label who laid claim to his former name. However, the label has come out to say that despite the change of name, Kizz Daniel would still have to attend to the court case.

Only recently, the singer announced his new name ‘Kizz Daniel’ on Instagram with a post that embodied a text of the new name and the caption; “Moving forward. Call me Kizz Daniel.” Shortly after that it was reported that with the move he has nipped the legal battle with G-worldwide Entertainment in the bud.

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Daniel’s former manager, Louiza Williams, stated that the singer’s recent action had no effect on the court case.

“I actually did not know that he had changed his name until you told me. However, there is no big deal about that; it has nothing to do with the case,” said the musician’s ex-manager.

“The next court date is June 26. It is not true that the case has been settled; so, I don’t know where all those reports came from. If there was anything like that, I would be aware of it.

Though Kizz Daniel doesn’t come to court personally, his lawyers appear on his behalf and I am sure they pass relevant information across to him accordingly. The court ruled that both parties should maintain the status quo, but Kizz Daniel is doing what is best known to him, which is contrary to what the court ordered,” she added.

On what move G-Worldwide is considering, Williams said, “the company definitely has a plan but I cannot reveal anything for now.”

[PHOTOS] Wizkid Sells Out O2 Arena London For The Biggest Afro Republik Concert In History

?

Last night, Wizkid headlined the biggest Afro Republik concert at the O2 Arena, London alongside other Nigerian artistes like Tekno, Tiwa Savage, Maleek Berry and Mr Eazi. The sold out concert was put together by SMADE Entertainment; UK’s number one Afrobeats promoter.

History was made as the concert boasted about 20,000 people in attendance making it the biggest Afro Republik concert held so far. One of the highlights of the event was when Wizkid invited Tiwa Savage to join him on stage to perform their hit song; “Ma Lo”.
