Zinoleesky’s “Kilofeshe Remix”…. What Do You Think About ‘Busiswa’ On The Song?

The show killer,  Zinoleesky, recently released the remix of his hit street song, Kilofeshe featuring The Mayor of Lagos, Mayorkun, and South African Rapper, Busiswa.

Kilofeshe is one of the biggest songs of 2020, it was full of vibes and the beats were on point. The Remix which was highly anticipated by loyal fans was expected to be Better and Hotter due to the artists being featured on it, did it turn out that way?

Personally, there’s was no need for a remix. Zinoleesky already won the hearts of millions with Kiliofeshe single, he delivered exceptionally well and it didn’t take long for Kilofeshe to become a hit. One might wonder if he remixed the song for more ginger or swag which the hit song obviously wasn’t lacking.  The Mayor of Lagos, Mayorkun didn’t disappoint one bit. His verse was fire, he blended perfectly well into the song, that you can’t help but wonder if the song is originally his.  And Busiswa, Hmmmmm……

The South African Rapper, Busiswa was also featured on this song. The rapper was apparently featured to drop fire rap lines, but what she did on her verse is completely unexplainable. Many feel that Busiswa wasn’t needed on that Remix at all. She killed the vibe of the song, the rhythm, and her lyrics would have been more related if it were to be in English. Busiswa is an amazing rapper, but I feel Kilofeshe was definitely not the Song for her.

Tell us, how did you feel about Busiswa’s verse? Was she really needed on the song?

Rema’s New Single – “Bounce”, Hit or Miss?

Rema kick-starts the year with another banger, Bounce which was released last Friday.  This banging tune was produced By Don Jazzy and it happens to be their first production together since Rema joined the Mavin Family.

Bounce has been trending since its release across all music Platforms. Special gratitude to the bounce challenge and aggressive promotions by Rema’s team, Bounce is leading on all music charts.

In this song, Rema tried his best but it’s nothing compared to his other hit songs. The lyrics of the song were quite catchy, but the constant repetition of words was irritating. On the other hand, Don Jazzy killed the record! ‘Na who do the beat? – Jazzy‘… Don Jazzy did exceptionally well on this dancehall track, the beats were mad, catchy, groovy, and tense.

According to Rema, the song was inspired by the luscious and magnificent body of an African woman… Really?

Let’s talk about this song. Was this really what you were expecting from the king of afrobeat who dropped back-to-back bangers like “Dumebi”, “Bad Beamer”, “Woman”, “Lady”, “Ginger Me”, and “Iron Man”?

“Any Human That Claims He Is Fighting For God Is Downgrading & Insulting God” – 2Baba

Popular Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia better known as Tuface or 2Baba speaks up on Religious arrogance in Nigeria.

The 45 year old singer took to Social media to rant about the religious arrogance being displayed by Christians in Country. He emphasized that religion is a moral gym and no one should claim they are  fighting for God because it’s downgrading and insulting to God.

First Off God is 2 Much!! So any human that claims they are fighting for God or Gbodo is downgrading and insulting God. My God has Packed everything already E come add Brain Join

He also said that God has made provisions  for everything needed by humans and it’s left to us to protect it including our brains. He added that anything else is politics and exfoliations. In his post, 2Baba clearly warns religious fanatics to avoid him with their religious arrogance.

This Statement is coming days after 2Baba reacted to Apostle Suleman’s video. Recall some days ago, the Controversial preacher informed his congregation that he makes his money via speaking in tongues and not a money making machine as they all thought. 2Baba reacted to this by posting a video where he slammed members of the congregation for applauding their pastor who claims used their money to buy three private jets.

Impact (Importance) Of Spotify On Nigerian Music.

A couple of days ago, Daniel Ek, the co-founder of Spotify, one of the world’s leading music streaming platforms, announced at its online-only Stream On the event that it would be expanding to 85 new markets across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Spotify also announced that it would offer both Spotify Free and Spotify Premium plans. Individual, Family, Duo, and Student Spotify plans will be available in selected markets. Listeners in new markets will get to access Spotify on mobile apps and in the browser. Apps for TV, consoles, speakers, wearables, and cars will be launched later in the year. The main aim of this expansion is to acquire a billion more users.

Before this announcement, the premium streaming service had only been available in 9 countries: Europe, the Americas, Oceania, some parts of Africa, and Asia. Despite being the biggest exporter of music in Africa, Nigeria was one of the countries that had no access to this streaming platform.

The Nigerian music streaming market has key streaming platforms like Audiomack, Youtube Music, Apple Music, Shazam, Deezer, and others like Boomplay and MTN MusicTime, enabling Nigerians to stream with ease and you can also make money when you go to Playamo Casino while streaming music on this platforms.

Only those who are a bit tech-savvy can bypass the restrictions and enjoy the Spotify streaming service’s benefits. It’s easy as pie. Download a good Vpn for changing your IP address, change your country/location, and you are good to go.

However, with this latest development, the stress of carrying such a tedious procedure is no longer necessary. This is good news that would undoubtedly take the already booming Nigerian music industry to a new level.

What is Spotify?

Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming company owned by Spotify AB, a publicly-traded company based in Luxembourg, Europe. Its global headquarters are in Stockholm, Sweden and its corporate headquarters in New York City. The platform offers digital copyright restricted recorded music and podcasts, including more than 60 million songs, from record labels and media companies.

The basic features are free with advertisements and limited control, while additional features, such as offline listening and commercial-free listening, are offered via paid subscriptions. Users of the platform can search for songs based on artiste, album, or genre and create, edit, and share playlists.

What does this new development really mean for the Nigerian music industry?

The Nigerian music industry remains the biggest producers of music in the Africa continent, and every year, it keeps getting better. From the quality of music production, collaborations to music videos, the Nigerian music industry is now competitive and the most sought after in Africa.

Spotify was not available in Nigeria for years because they had not acquired the necessary rights and permission they needed from record labels to provide all the songs from Nigerian artistes that would guarantee them more Spotify users and also for them to make enough money via local ads in Nigeria.

The availability of Spotify in the industry is advantageous in several ways. It serves as a medium for the untapped audience of Nigerian music to be exposed. The platform has more than 345 million monthly active users, and over 155 million paid subscribers globally.

This is enough to give Nigerian artistes more recognition and attention on an international scale. Users worldwide can comfortably listen, enjoy, and discover more unique sounds peculiar to Nigerian music. This brings about recognition for collaborations, shout outs for awards, creating a larger fanbase, and not just restricted to the top shots but also the upcoming acts.

Some Nigerian acts have received more recognition due to their presence on the streaming platform. In August 2019, Wizkid made history on Spotify as the first African artist to reach 8 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform.

In 2019, The self-acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy, surpassed Wizkid in November by amassing over 8 million listeners monthly after the success of his album. He still holds the African artiste’s title with the highest number of monthly listeners, Mr Eazi follows with over 5 million, and Wizkid currently has over 4 million listeners. Other Nigerian artists with huge numbers on Spotify include Davido, Maleek Berry, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Rema, Patornaking, etc.

Asides from sharing their music via the platform, Spotify also makes it easy for some artists to gain more recognition with content like interviews, articles, Spotlight features, playlists, etc. Think of it as a free promotion.

An artiste can also happily smile at the bank as Spotify is one of the highest paying streaming platforms after Tidal, Deezer, Apple Music. Digital music consumption has taken over physical music revenue in Nigeria, and its growth has remained healthy and steady.

Artistes would be able to earn more money easily and be more established. It also helps solo artistes as there is a reduction in the suffocating 360 record labels that result in scandals. When there is an adequate supply of revenue in the industry, it gives room for more investment and boosts the industry and the economy at large.

Spotify in Nigerian music is sure to make great changes, and it might just be that big change that Nigeria needs to step up on a global scale. We can only keep our fingers crossed.

[Music] Dreylo – Rappers ft. Dreylo

David “Dreylo” Nonyelum is a Nigerian artiste and social media influencer. He is a recognized social media influencer in the Nigerian scene, with a large following and tweet impressions averaging in the region of millions per month. His success as an influencer is proof of his resolve and dedication to his craft. He makes his debut with a Dremo assisted track titled “Rappers”.
As a lover of music, he started experimenting with making music at a tender age. Fueled by a dream of being an influence on the Nigerian sound-scape like his inspirations; Lil Wayne, and Eminem. He recently participated in the 2020 edition of the Monster-Verse Challenge and won. A final push to commit more time to his music and testament to his active follower base.
While he would be traditionally referred to as a rapper, he sees himself as more – beyond the tag – an Artiste. His new age Afro-fusion with hip-hop elements is a standout style that is easily identified but does not be surprised if you see him hitting high notes on his next project. With his music, he tackles everyday subject matters with a new perspective the people love.
“Rappers” is a critical message for the rap community and a notice to the general music audience of his intentions.
