American rapper, Tekashi 6ix9ine is set to be released from prison today to avoid contracting the coronavirus.
The rapper is currently serving a 24-month sentence after pleading guilty to nine charges including conspiracy to murder and armed robbery. He has already served 13 months of his two-year sentence and was due to be released from prison in August 2020. However, due to the spread of the coronavirus, his legal representative filed a motion for his release because of his vulnerable state.
It was then confirmed that the rapper could be released as soon as this afternoon. If Tekashi is released, he will serve the remaining four months of his sentence in home confinement.
