The talented act, who spoke with Sunday Scoop, talked about his main aim of doing buisnesss and his plans towards it.

In his words:

“My ambition is to become a billionaire and I am consciously working towards that. That is why I titled my last EP, Billionaire Ambitions. I have my eyes set on being a music mogul so that I can empower other young artistes out there. Even now, I try to do that as I regularly give out cash on my social media platforms because I love helping people.”

On feeling threatened by rappers like Olamide and Phyno, Yung6ix said,

“I have a very good relationship with Olamide and Phyno and I don’t feel threatened by any of them. I believe that the sky is wide enough for every bird to fly and I am thankful that I have my own market and fans who love me. My music is being recognised globally and my unique Nigerian style of music has made me one of the biggest hip hop brands in the industry today. Even though there is a bit of western influence in my songs but it’s also obvious that I’m a Nigerian and I always stay true to my roots.”

On making music:

“I make music mentally. I don’t write songs as I find that to be stressful. I prefer to freestyle and from that I get to develop the song and make it better after some takes. True music comes from the soul and I try to stay as pure as possible.”

I Was Surprised On How Much Ghanaians Love Nigerian Music – Mike Abdul

Gospel singer, Mike Abdul, who was recently in Ghana with his music group, Midnight Crew, has opened up about his stay in the West African country.

Mike also, talked about Ghanaian love for Nigerian music amongst many other things.

What exactly was the purpose of your trip to Ghana?

I travelled with my music group, Midnight Crew, to minister at Pastor Mensah Otabil’s church.

 

What were the similarities you noticed between Nigeria and Ghana?

I visited a market in Accra and I was amazed when I heard Tope Alabi’s music. I think they love Nigerian music a lot, so most of the places one goes to, you’re likely to hear Nigerian songs, even the very old tunes by people like Ebenezer Obey and King Sunny Ade.

 

What impressed you most about Ghana?

In that regard, I would compare the country to South Africa because that is where impresses me most in Africa. They think out of the box and they don’t let their black skin define them as people who are suffering. Even if we are struggling as a people, we don’t have to look it. We should try to look like what we hope to be and I think Ghana is doing well in that aspect. There is more serenity and orderliness in Ghana than Nigeria. People obey traffic laws and things are relatively more peaceful.

Did you experience any culture shock?

No, I didn’t.

 

Did you meet anybody who recognised you as a singer?

Yes, I did. There is a big banquet hall in the hotel where we gather to eat every morning. A lot of people walked up to me there and said they see me on their TV screens.

Yes, There Is Competition Amongst Mavin Artistes – Reekado Banks

Mavin singer, Reekado Banks, is undoubtedly one of the good artistes Nigeria can boast, a thing we are certain he knows.

Speaking with Sunday Scoop, the Ladies And Gentlemen crooner, opened up on how his family handled his decision to go into music fully, is Mavin family and of course competition amongst them all.

On his parents being told about his decision to pursue music, Reekado said:

“My parents have always been supportive and they want the best for their children. When I initially told my mother about my intention, she had no problem with it. She then told my dad and he was okay with it too but said he wanted to be sure that I wouldn’t leave Jesus Christ.”

On gaining fame and its effect:

“I am still the same person I used to be. I do every other thing I want but I no longer have the liberty of walking on the street or going to some certain places I would have loved to go. I have always been the indoor type and even when I was in the University of Lagos, I never went to clubs or things like that.”

On the Mavin family:

 “The only thing I can say we have among us is healthy competition. We encourage ourselves to do well and we’re one big happy family. We give ourselves good pressure, like when one person releases a good song, the others are motivated to do the same, or even do better. We also advise ourselves on how to do better and we constantly look out for one another’s progress.”

BasketMouth, Bovi, Buhari lookalike ‘MC Tagwaye’ thrill at #GloLafftafest2017 Abuja

The nationwide tour of Nigeria’s biggest comedy brand, Glo Laffta Fest berthed in Abuja on Sunday, giving residents of the Federal Capital City a night of comic splendour.

Held at one of the most notable historical landmarks in Abuja, the Old Parade Ground in Garki, Glo Laffta Fest brought together Nigerians of all ages, classes and political persuasions under one roof for fun and laughter.

In the more than 30 decades’ existence of the Abuja landmark, few corporate events have achieved the same level of excitement the show evoked. The entire arena came alive from midday as fun seekers assembled from all parts of the capital city.

Show opener was the Jos-based comedian, Osama, who sent the audience reeling in laughter as he shared funny anecdotes about life in the militarised city of Jos.

MC Tagwaye, the comedian who mimics President Mohammadu Buhari picked the baton and raised the tempo even higher as he made jokes around the socio-political condition of the country.

The high point of his routine was the question and answer session wherein a few members of the audience got into the role and asked ‘His Excellency’ questions. His spontaneity and quick wit got him a loud ovation. A guest had sought his view on how his administration would address the issue of witches and wizards flying at night and he responded that the matter would be addressed by his Minister of Aviation.

Port Harcourt-oriented comedian, Dan the Humorous picked the baton and treated the audience to fast-paced jokes mostly centering on health and care-giving institutions, especially teaching hospitals.

Then it was the turn of Salvador from Uganda to serenade the audience with his own style of jokes. He humorously compared the reactions of the authorities to suicidal people in the advanced countries and in his home country, Uganda.

Other heavy weight comedians who thrilled the audience to no end include I Go Dye, Gordons, Bovi and Basketmouth.

Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, Mr. Kazeem Kaka, said the show was conceived to reward Globacom subscribers for their loyalty to the brand.

He added that the show would be taken to 25 more cities over the next six months. The cities include Awka, Ikeja, Ikorodu, FESTAC , Ajah, Owerri; Asaba; Calabar; Enugu; Aba; Suleja, Kubwa, FCT, Ibadan; Ijebu Ode; Abeokuta; Ekpoma; Kaduna; Akure; Lokoja; and Anyigba.

The Abuja edition of the show featured a dance competition that produced three winners, namely Eunice Nkwocha and Ijeh Joy and Favour Solomon, a student.

 On hand to add to the fun were Nollywood stars, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Kanayo O. Kanayo and Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G.

Enugu is the next destination of the much sought-after show. Those wishing to attend the show are expected to use up to N2,000 credit within one month and text LOL and preferred location to short code 240; for example, “LOL Enugu to 240.

Tekno‘s latest sound offering “Be“ has caused quite a fanciful stir amongst fan circles.

While many say it’s a total bring away from his stereotype style in presenting music, some say the only oddity about it, is the production which was handled by Sarz – it’s still the same favourite boy serving us that favourite sound.

Even as we’re ecstatic for the Pana crooner to attain optimal health again, some of us have bared our thoughts on the subject of his new music release.

Tekno’s “Be“ is a number that seems to bring in some relieve or better still, some soothing breath of fresh air as Tekno jumps on an instrumentation, which is different from his regular signature.

GloMegaMusicTour | Phyno, Olamide, Flavour & other stars dazzle Owerri all night!

–      7 Artistes hold Owerri spellbound for 7 hours

–      It was “operation Seven Seven” as the grandmasters of data, Globacom, on Saturday assembled seven of Nigeria’s most celebrated music icons to unleash seven hours of zestful music on the residents of Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

Compered by the duo of West Africa’s movie divas, Juliet Ibrahim from Ghana and Mercy Johnson Okojie of the famous Nollywood, the Owerri edition of the show, was a class act.

‘If you Ask me’ crooner, Omawumi and her salsa savvy band opened the floodgate of entertainment for the night as she reeled out tracks after tracks from her inexhaustible repertoire of music.

She was followed by the Queen of Afropop, Yemi Alade, announced her presence on the stage with her hit track, Charlie  and by the time she moved from Tangerine and Pose, to  Kissing, Ferrari and Taking over me, the expansive hall was in a frenzy.

Runtown was the next act of the night and the master of dance hall proved that he is indeed a master of the stage.  The dandy artiste got the entire crowd on its feet throughout his nerve-sapping performance of is hits like ‘Mad over You and Gallardo

Igbo ethno-rapper and songsmith, Phyno was who two weeks ago joined the league of Brand Ambassadors of Globacom was next. The Fada Fada originator, held the crowd spellbound with his hit tracks. A member of the audience simply identified as Gift, went into frenzy on sighting the fair-complexioned music star and passed out. When she regained her consciousness, she kept screaming that she wanted to see Phyno. The iconic musician took selfies with her after his performance.

While the momentum kept growing, Globacom dropped Flavour Nabania on the crowd and the excitement knew no limit. Flavour spared no efforts at showing why he remains the lady’s man. The light-skinned and dreadlocked artiste wowed the crowd with various melodious songs from  Professor Johnbull to Golibe, Baby Oku and numerous others.

Then came the King of the Streets, Olamide, who took the show to its crescendo.  The crowd lost count of the number of hit tracks Olamide dropped in quick succession. Among the hit songs the Shakiti Bobo rapper rendered were  Shoki, Pepper Dem Gang and Don’t Stop.  Interestingly too, like it happened penultimate week in Awka, the young music buffs from the South East sang all the tracks enthusiastically along with him.

The duo of Peter and Paul Okoye, the inimitable twins of PSquare fame closed the night of fun with a 5 star performance. For close to one hour, PSquare displayed why they remain relevant even after 19 years of magic in the nation’s entertainment sphere. The pair kept the massive crowd on their feet with tracks like Busybody, Personally and the recent Bank Alert ­hit to end their performance a few minutes before 2am on Sunday.

The show, the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour was held at the International Conference Centre, ICC, Owerri and was attended by top government functionaries, members of the paramilitary forces, business tycoons in the city and environs and other socialites, who savoured raw entertainment supplied by world-class artistes and celebrities. The trio of Angela Okorie, a new generation of Nollywood stars;  the matriarch of Nollywood, Patience Ozokwor (Mama G) and the ageless Baby Boy of Nollywood, Richard Mofe-Damijo, RMD were the guest celebrities at the event.

Among the dignitaries who attended the show were the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Imo State Police Command, Mr. Tony Okpara, the Special Assistant to Imo State Governor on Protocol and Entertainment, Hon Uchenna Ebochuo, the Sterling Bank, Owerri Branch management comprising Lynda Ikezuagwu, Benita Orajiaka, Mega Okpara, Nelly Ukwunna and Lisa Ekpeki and a host of other dignitaries.

Ikechukwu Obioma, a student of the Federal University of Owerri, FUTO, summed up his experience at the show by saying “only Globacom could have done this; they don’t disappoint”, just as Ifunaya Odabara, a self-employed graduate of Economics from Imo State university, Owerri said: “I am used to this type of show from Glo. I was here two years ago when Glo had a show like this but I can say that this night is just too much”.

The next stop for the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour is Asaba, Delta State, where fun seekers in the city will be treated to another dose of complete entertainment at the Event Centre on Saturday, April 29.

Glo subscribers and others wishing to attend the Asaba edition of the show are enjoined to buy Glo SIM cards, activate and load N2,000 on the SIM.  Similarly, existing subscribers are expected to use up to N2,000 within one month and text MUSIC and preferred location to short code 207 such as “MUSIC Asaba” to 2017.
