The 2021, 14th Headies Awards Hosted by TV personality/Actress Nancy Isime and comedian Bovi took place last night February 21, 2021 at The La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ibeju-Lekki with selected attendance And also done virtually for fans to Stream and watch. This in compliance with the state’s laid down Covid-19 restriction.
The 2021 Headies night was a successful one with guest attendance of Comedian AY, actress Iyabo Ojo, Honourable Desmond Elliot and all nominated & performing artistes. Nigeria’s No. 1 Starboy, Wizkid was also in attendance.
The major Awards people were on the look out for was the; Next Rated and Artiste Of The Year Awards. The fastest rising singer in the History of Nigerian Music, Omah Lay won the 2021 – 14th Headies Next Rated Award ahead of Bella Shmurda, Tems and Oxlade who were in the same category with the Bad Influence crooner.
In this 14th Headies Award, 2021 we also saw Wizkid beating the likes of Burna Boy (the current champion), Davido, Tiwa Savage and Mayorkun to snag the Artiste Of The Year award. With this Win, Wizkid Made History by becoming the first artiste to win the Artiste Of The Year Award Three times (2012, 2016 and 2020). This took Wizkid ahead of Davido who also has two Artiste Of The Year Award (2014 & 2018).
Wiz is the only Artiste that has been consistent in this category since 2012 (Nominated 8 times in a row) And he is the most Awarded Artiste in The Headies with 11 Awards to his name… Big Congrats To Starboy!
