PICTURES: Nigerian Idol Eviction Party for Nikky and Diware

Tensions mounts at the ongoing Etisalat sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 2 as the number of the contestant’s drops two more steps down from 8 to 6. This time gorgeous Nneka Njoku popularly known as ‘Nikky’, and ‘lawyer turned singer’ Diwari Peterside, take a bow during the last eviction show.

As it is the usual practice on the show, both evicted contestants gave their last renditions on the show, giving second thoughts to the studio audience and judges that wished they could bring them back into the competition. Their rendition brought tears of joy, and sweet memories to other contestants who made it through.

The Top 6 Contestants left in the show to vie for the star prize are Najite El-David, Adum Oboni Honey, Giami Lynda, Mercy Chinwo Nnenda also known as ‘Mecinda’, Stephen Onochie, and Joe Anthony Ekpo popularly known as ‘Joe Blue’. Speaking after the show, the evicted duo, Nikky and Diwari thanked Etisalat for giving them the platform to showcase their talents to the world 

According to Diwari, she said, ‘Etisalat has done so much for me by giving me a chance to sing to the world. I thank the audience and viewers who have brought me this far and finally the judges and all the crew members of Nigerian Idol who taught me all the things I never knew about music.

Head, Youth Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, Elvis Daniel speaking after the show said, ‘It is shocking to see these beautiful ladies with awesome voices leave the show. This only tells people that the show is now at its peak. Everyone here has got great voices too but only one would take home the grand prize. Viewers can ensure that their favorite contestants take home the star prize by voting as many times as possible.

Elvis further said that viewers voting for the contestants are not left out of the competition. According to him, voters will also have the opportunity to win cool and exiting prizes weekly such as Samsung Galaxy Tabs, Samsung Galaxy Notes, BlackBerry Bold 9300, iPods Nanos and Gaga phones and at the end of the show one lucky voting winner would go home with a brand new Hyundai car.

The Nigerian Idol show is aired across Nigeria and will produce a winner and two runners up in April. The winner of Nigerian Idol would take home a cash prize of $100,000, a recording contract, a brand new SUV, a Galaxy Tab, Blackberry and an iPod. The first runner up gets N1.5m also a Galaxy Tab, Blackberry and iPod while the second runner up will receive N1m, a Galaxy Tab, Blackberry and an iPod. Other finalists from the 4th to 10th place would also go home with a cash prize of N100,000 each, a Galaxy Tab, Blackberry and iPod.
