The Nigerian music industry is a big pool – a pool in which the big fishes and the aspiring ones co-exists. It is a place where musicians of different statures and achievements, do their respective businesses – make and market their crafts.
If Nigerians were to rank the horde of artistes in the country based on popularity, quality of music, lifestyle and other relative criteria, it is a given that the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Olamide would occupy the top 3 spots on most list submissions but it is uncertain where the likes of Reekado Banks and Kiss Daniel would feature on these lists.

Niniola & Her Sexy Moves Perform At Harrysong Kingmaker Concert In Warri
Queen of Afro-house music, was live and online at the the maiden edition of Kingmaker concert in Warri, hosted by son of the soil, Harrysong.
The Maradona crooner, generated a loud stir from the thousands of guests present at the well-attended event with her seductive moves, which mostly involved the whining and wriggling of her waist, as well as the massive rolling of her backside. She also showed off her street side by occasionally breaking into a ‘shaku shaku’ move during her musical performance for songs Soke and Sicker.
Fans attempting an on-stage stunt seemed to be the order of the night. One unlucky fan go but his plans were foiled by securit who caught up with him before he could make his way to the seductive and booty-shaking songstress

Airboy VS Junior Boy – Who Is Your Rookie Of The Year?
As the date of the event is fast approaching, there is a buildup on who will go home with what award at the 12th edition of the prestigious Headies award which will take place on the 5th of May at Eko Hotel & suits.
Today, we focus on the Rookie category. The newbie category comes with a couple of familiar names and we are once again left to ponder on who truly deserves the plaque.
This award category has been previously won by many of the industry big names including, Mayorkun, Reekado Banks and Ycee.
The top two contenders for the award are Aquila Records’ flagship act, Airboy and Irapada crooner, Junior Boy.
Both act have impressed with their respective hit singles, although Airboy has moved on to drop his EP ‘Vibes’ after featuring Burna Boy on the remix of his hit single ‘Ayepo’, we cannot also deny that Junior’s collaboration with 9ice swept every corner of the streets in 2017.
Among the nominees are; Fargin crooner and internet music sensation, Teni, DMW’s latest signing, Peruzzi and Ghanaian boy wonder, KiDi who is a surprise addition to the list.
Both Airboy and Junior Boy appeal to the street with their music but the question is, who deserves to take the award home?

Fan Snatches D’Banj Shades During Performance At Harrysong Kingmaker Concert In Warri
The Kingmaker Concert in Warri hosted by son of the soil, Harrysong, was a huge success. The show brought a whole lot of fun and excitement to the locale of Warri in Delta State especially for music fans who had long anticipated the epoch event since it was publicized on various media platforms.
One of the performing acts for the show was kokomaster, D’Banj who treated his audience to a medley of music hits from his impressive repertoire of songs. But a particular highlight of his set was the moment two fans successfully pulled off an on-stage stunt; one dashing across to embrace the iconic singer while the other snatched his dark shades off of his face.
Of course, the crowd hailed and cheered them on with enthusiasm just before security came to rescue.

Davido’s Manager Reacts To Fight With SA Actress & N60 Million Debt Claims
In the last couple of weeks, Davido has been in the news for controversies relating to a fight South African actress in Zimbabwe and an allegation leveled against him that he refused to pay the N60 million that he owes. His manager has however reacted to stories.
Punch NG wrote that Davido who had a sold-out show in Zimbabwe last weekend, was accused of fighting a South African actress, whose name is Boity, at a hotel after his performance. It was alleged that this happened after she turned down Davido’s sexual advances. It was said that reports of the altercation were even published in newspapers in Zimbabwe.
Days later, a jeweller called out the singer, claiming that Davido made away with some of his jewellery. In a four-part post on Instagram, the jeweller, known as Michael Kaycee, claimed that he gave some jewellery to Davido and his brother in 2011 in Ghana to sell in London. According to him, upon getting to London, Davido refused to give him the proceeds of the sale and subsequent efforts to get his money have been futile.
However, Davido’s manager, Asa Asika spoke with Punch NG reporters about the issues. He simply said,
“I don’t have any comments about that issue.”
Commenting on the Zimbabwean scandal, Asika said,
“That is not true; it never happened. I don’t know about what was written in any paper.”
Meanwhile, Davido commented on an Instagram post that reported the story, saying, “Part five dey?”

Olamide: Wack Rapper, Fine Singer On “Owo Shayo”…My Thoughts

Olamide’s music has experienced several phases of evolution over the years and each of these evolution phases has evoked reactions from fans and critics, in different ways and for different reasons.
At the start, he had to prove that he isn’t a fluke, later on it was a question of whether he has the mettle to grow the indigenous rap genre and today, Olamide is having to choose between staying a rapper or totally embracing the life of singer.
Almost all of his releases this year, has been singing and his latest release titled ‘Owo Shayo’ is on board for reviewing. Here is what we think.

@ibironketweets The line of distinction between singing and rapping, is supposed as bold as brass and as clear as day but Olamide knows how to make it thin and blurry such that a casual listener would not notice the difference.
On ‘Owo Shayo’, Olamide does the same pseudo-rap that characterises his recent releases like C.Ronaldo and Science Student. Like these songs, Owo Shayo bears the beauty of Olamide’s artistry which isn’t exactly in rhyming and poetry but in half-rapping, half-singing in a way that his delivery is melodious, teasing and it entertains dancing.
Pheelz, the producer, puts in an A+ effort on the production of this song considering the technicality of finding a balance for Olamide’s type of music but well, he produced some of the songs on Eyan Mayweather, and he replicates the understanding of Olamide’s production needs, on this song.
Theme-wise, ‘Owo Shayo’ isn’t that deep, it’s a show-off song, a ball-on-you type of song which was mostly-rendered in Yoruba making it seem like it was made for people with the understanding of Yourba, to understand. For others, it would only lead them to a mood of dance.

Pheelz Mr. Producer also deserves a great credit for the best of this song ‘cos the opening sound alone was enough to create interest in the rest of the music and it is interestingly different from the trending Shaku Shaku beat that has pushed practically everyone in the industry to one dark hole. It is a great move from Olamide by giving us something different this time around.
Owo Shayo for me, is a sure banger that is growing on the street already, lol, ‘cos Olamide & Pheelz dey vex. Dem dey hot and the song has some easy pick up lines which would help its popularity below,

M.I Reacts To J. Cole’s Performance, Asks Nigerian Rappers To Fix Up
American rapper, J. Cole delivered a special performance at the recently held Castle Lite-organised Lagos concert which saw a crowd of Nigerians, cheer him and rap along to his rendition. This has sparked a conversation about the rap culture in Nigeria and M.I Abaga joined in the talk.
For most part of 2017, M.I Abaga was having a public conversation about the dying Hip-hop culture in Nigeria. The conversation started after he released a controversial song titled ‘Fix Up Your Life.’ On the song, he called out Nigerian rappers, urging them to do more to raise the standard of the genre.
Nigerian rappers of all stature reacted to this call in different ways, Phyno, Vector, N6, Dremo are among those who reacted. The popular opinion was that rap music is not exactly marketable in Nigeria and it is difficult, especially for the rappers, not to commercialize their craft.
Interestingly, a certain @HEAD_MASTA revisited the topic after seeing the impressive reaction of Nigerians to J. Cole’s music. He put out a tweet that read,
This is J.Cole performing a rap song and Nigerians are singing along word for word.
Nigerian rappers (turned singers) should quit the ‘Nigerians don’t appreciate rap’ talk they always use as an excuse to switch genre.

Not surprisingly, M.I Abaga reacted to the tweet, stating that the audience at the event only form a small fraction of the Nigerian music consumer base. In his tweet he stated that ‘Nigerian artists can not rely on these lot to feed us.’

The sudden rise of Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah Ghaly is an Egyptian professional footballer who plays for English football club Liverpool and the Egyptian national team.
He started his senior career with hometown club El Mokawloon in the Egyptian Premier League in 2010, departing shortly thereafter to join Basel for an undisclosed fee.
Salah’s performances then attracted Premier League side Chelsea, and subsequently signed for the team for a £11 million fee in 2014 before he departed on a loan to Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Roma, with the latter eventually signing him permanently for €15 million.

“Aje” Or “Commando” – Which Is The Hotter Record?
A lot of time has gone to arguments about who sings better between Wizkid and Davido.
A lot of effort has gone to trying to prove who has better music qualities between the two singers. But there has been no general consensus because with each new release, they seem to outdo their previous works.
