FCMB Commended for Impressive Performance and Higher Dividend Declaration
Shareholders of FCMB Group Plc have commended the Board, Management and Staff of the financial institution for recording another impressive performance in 2018 in spite the challenging macroeconomic and regulatory environment. The commendation was given at the 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Group held on April 26, 2019 in Lagos.
At the meeting, the shareholders approved the financial results of FCMB Group and payment of a cash dividend of 14kobo per ordinary share for the year ended December 31, 2018. This translates to a total amount of N2.77 billion.
Going by its audited accounts for last year, FCMB Group’s profit before tax (PBT) rose by 73% to N18.4 billion as against N11.5 billion in the preceding year. Gross revenue grew to N177.4 billion, an increase of 4.3% compared to the N169.9 billion for the same period in 2017. Net interest income as at the end of 2018 rose by 3% Year-on-Year (YoY) to N72.6 billion. In demonstration of the enhanced confidence of customers in FCMB, deposits also increased by 19% YoY to N821.7 billion while loans and advances stood at N633 billion. Total assets went up by 21% YoY to N1.43 trillion, just as capital adequacy ratio was 15.9%.
Commenting on the development and the financial results of the Group, the Chairman of Trusted Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Mukhtar Mukhtar, expressed delight on the increased dividend payment. According to him, ‘’This is an excellent result achieved by FCMB Group in a period of low economic activities in the country. I am highly impressed with the Group’s balance sheet quality which witnessed a high growth. This shows vigorous policies that have positively impacted on and optimised the balance sheet. Another significant aspect of the performance of FCMB is the growing contributions of the subsidiaries in the profit margin. The 14kobo dividend declaration signals FCMB’s commitment to improving the lots of shareholders’’.
On his part, the National Chairman of Progressive Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Mr. Boniface Okezie, said, ‘’FCMB and its subsidiaries have done very well in terms of dividend payment and the overall performance, including the loans portfolio which is also encouraging. The fact the Bank has been able to increase its branch network is an indication that it is expanding. I believe that FCMB will build on this performance’’.
Presenting his report, the Chairman of FCMB Group, Mr. Oladipupo Jadesimi, said, ‘’In 2018, we continued to move forward on the path of good governance, strengthening and improving our corporate governance structure and bringing it into line with our long-term strategy and the highest international standards. This was in order to increase the confidence of our shareholders, investors and other stakeholders in an environment that is demanding even more transparency’’. He added that, ‘’the Board of Directors, fully engaged and committed to the Group’s corporate culture and strategy, has the experience, knowledge, dedication and diversity needed to accomplish our objective of making FCMB one of the leading financial services groups of African origin, helping people and businesses prosper and upholding our adopted of execution, professionalism, innovation and customer focus’’.
Also speaking at the AGM, the Group Chief Executive of FCMB Group Plc, Mr. Ladi Balogun, said, ‘’the Commercial and Retail Banking Group (which includes First City Monument Bank Limited, Credit Direct Limited, FCMB (UK) Limited and FCMB Microfinance Bank Limited) grew its profit by 61%, driven by improved performance in our consumer finance business and increase in fees and commissions. Commercial and Retail Banking remain our largest group, contributing 83% of profit. Our banking franchise continued to grow as reflected by a 20% rise in deposits and our customer base also grew by 20% to 4.9 million customers’’.
Mr. Balogun also reported that, ‘’the pre-tax profit of our Investment Banking Group (FCMB Capital Markets Limited and CSL Stockbrokers Limited) increased by 24% in 2018. This performance was driven by higher conversion of our investment banking deal pipeline as well as cost efficiencies. Our stockbroking business maintained its position as a top-three player in its sector’’.
The Group Chief Executive informed shareholders, ‘’Our Asset & Wealth Management franchise (FCMB Pensions Limited, First City Asset Management Limited and CSL Trustees Limited) increased combined assets under management to over N310 billion (24% increase). In spite the reduction in fees charged by pension fund administrators by the primary regulator, our asset management businesses increased pre-tax profits by 15%. We acquired additional shares in FCMB Pensions Limited (formerly Legacy Pensions Limited) to increase our stake from 88.2% to 91.6% in 2018’’.
He assured shareholders and other stakeholder that 2019 would see continued growth along all key indices for the Group, especially those around profitability, deposits, customer numbers and assets under management.

Kundalini Meditation – Sa Ta Na Ma Kriya
Join me in learning one of my favorite Kundalini meditations for transformation!
In this FWFG session, I go back to my roots and early days of traditional yoga by sharing a mantra practice that I find to be potent and useful from the Kundalini Yoga tradition. Mantras are powerful tools for clearing and restructuring, so before you knock it, try it. It’s fun to learn something new, plus, I am telling you – they work!
You do not need to have any experience with meditation or with Kundalini Yoga to practice this kryia. In this session I teach it from square one, nice and slow. Through regular practice you can eventually start this session after the tutorial to practice with me. Or you can set a timer on your own!
Kundalini Tradition
I integrate a lot of Kundalini into my practices, but today we pay respect to the Kundalini tradition by learning one of the most well known Kundalini Kriyas taught by the father of the practice, Yogi Bhjan to reorient the mind and open us up to the possibility of transformational change.
Practice this meditation when you needing to move things along, when you feel stuck in a toxic thought pattern, when you are noticing addictive behavior, or when seeking a little energy to do the things that have been on your manifestation wishlist for some time.
Commit to doing this regularly and no doubt, you will notice a shift.
Mudras
The dance of the hand movements in this practice represent a full cycle, whether it be in a breath, a day, a life or in the journey of processing something meaningful or traumatic.
The importance of the mudras and sounds used in this practice are:
- SA with index finger, represents the infinite, birth, the beginning, the totality of everything that exists!
- TA with the middle finger, represents living life, the complexities, the “messy middle” and existence and creativity that manifests from the previous chapter.
- NA with the ring finger, is death, inevitable change and the transformation of consciousness.
- MA with the pinky finger, is rebirth, regeneration and resurrection which allows us to consciously accept and experience the joy of the infinite.
Yogi Bhajan once said that this is the most important foundation for students of meditation and that if you can do only one meditation, this is it.
Thank for always being willing to learn new things, keep an open mind, and continue trusting the process around and within Finding What Feels Good.

He revealed some people are just out to destroy others who are achieving successes in their lives. He said these set of people don’t want any good to exist for people who are thriving and are hell bent on destroying any that comes up.

Davido Gets Involved Yet Again In The Osun Election Saga, Says Gbenga Oyetola Should Vacate The Seat For His uncle
Davido has once again gotten involved in the current political saga in his state of origin, Osun State between his uncle, senator Ademola Adeleke and the current governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola.
There has been the existence of power struggle between both politicians since the gubernatorial election of the state in September 2018 that has generated a lot of controversies.
Just few weeks ago, a tribunal seated in Abuja nullified the victory of the All Progressives Congress candidate’s victory, Gbenga Oyetola at the last governorship election and declared Davido’s uncle, senator Adeleke as the legal winner.
Since the verdict by the tribunal, there has been a back and forth on the actions to follow the verdict declared, Gbenga Oyetola has taken the case to the appeal court to have the tribunal’s judgement reversed and nullified.
Also, prior to the step to take the matter to the court of appeal, Senator Adeleke was accused and charged to court in order to have the approval that gave him the opportunity to participate in the election withdrawn after some irregularities were reported to have been found in his O’level certificate.
He however won the case as the high court declared that his certificate is fine and there was no illegality found in how he got the results. But just again this afternoon, it is being reported on the internet that the APC candidate; Gbenga Oyetola has filed a law suit against Senator Adeleke to have his senatorial position denounced.
On seeing the news, Davido took to his Twitter page to condemn the move by the current governor. He also describes the move as an act of desperation and admonished Oyetola to vacate the seat and accept an arrangement that has been designed by God.
He wrote; “Desperation at its peak, Oyetola must go…this shit is getting embarrassing and ridiculous! You lost your election sir! Accept God’s will and vacate , Thank you…Now back to what i was doing.”

Former YBNL artiste; Chinko Ekun has downplayed the beliefs of people that his 2018 hit song; “Able God” was sung in order to encourage Internet scammers (Yahoo boys) to continue with their condemnable and criminal works.
You would recall last week as one of the most controversial weeks ever experienced in the Nigerian music industry as the issue between, Simi, Naira Marley and their takes on Internet fraud was well escalated by across social media.
Naira Marley posited that “Yahoo yahoo” isn’t a crime and instead, it’s a payback for the sufferings our ancestors experienced during the era of slave trade, centuries ago. After the statement, people castigated Naira marley as well as those in support of “yahoo yahoo” in which many people believe Chinko Ekun is a part of.
However, Sunday Scoop reached out to the rapper to have his opinion on what has been believed and he revealed everyone is entitled to their thoughts but one thing he knows for sure is that his song “Able God” was sung for the financially challenged people, to help encourage them and keep smiles on their faces when they hear the song.
He said, “I really don’t have anything to say about that issue. It is really something that doesn’t concern me and I wouldn’t want to get involved in that.
“Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I know why I recorded the song, Able God. It is a song meant to inspire people who are broke, and whenever they hear the song, they are always happy. It is just a normal song that came to me naturally. People can always interpret it their own ways and I don’t have any power over that. I don’t sing to support bad behaviour, and I am not concerned about what anybody says.”

Korede Bello has been in the news of late due to the release of his two hit singles “Joko” and, “Mr Vendor“. However, there are rumors flying around that he is planning to leave his current record label, Mavin Records.
In a recent interview, he also came forth to dispel the rumors of his plans to break up with his record label. The Mavin star explained that he is a boss and does not need to prove that to anyone by leaving the label.
In his words “I am a boss of my own and I don’t need to prove that to anyone. I also don’t need to prove that by leaving Mavin Records to set up my own label. With Mavin, we are stronger together. If you listen to my new song, Mr Vendor, you will know that I’m still with Mavin,”
He also revealed that the intention behind the release of “Joko” was to support other upcoming artistes using his celebrity status.
He said “With Joko, we did a social media challenge and gave N2.5m to the winners. We didn’t just give them money, we gave them a platform. You don’t need to sign artistes before you help them. You can just support them with your platform by posting or saying something nice about their songs.”

The steamy DJ Coublon produced number sees Miss Alade gush uncontrollably over her “true lova”, megastar Rick Ross, who takes the track to a new hip-hop realm.

The singer in excitement shared photos of her new look on her social media pages with fans surprised and given mixed remarks.
Simi who released her album; “Omo Charlie Champagne” recently, looked really cute and charming in the nicely curled and shinny low cut hair-style.
In a way to clear the notions of some that Adekunle Gold might not like the move, the “Ire” singer entered the comment section of his wife after posting the picture, dropping emojis to describe how much he loves the look.

Rio – “Cover Me”
Raphael Oshionebo professionally known as RIO is a Nigerian Afrobeat recording artiste and performer based in Lagos, state. Born in 1989, second of four children (all boys) of Dr & Mrs Oshionebo. He grew up in the south, Uromi Edo State, where he had his early primary and secondary school education at Blessed Josephine primary school Bakhita and Lumen Christi international high school Uromi. He moved on to study Microbiology at the University of Abuja. Even whilst in the university, Rio had always known he was going to do music professionally. Rio’s passion for music started in his university days, incorporating elements of African music, soul, Afro beat, Hip- Hop, R&B and Reggae. He regularly recorded songs and experimented with various fusion of Afrobeats and sounds that reflects the ingeniousness and dexterity of the African music style.
Rio is currently working on creating and delivering more of this aptitude to inspire and impress every musically inclined individual that appreciates good music. His debut release entitled “Cover Me” is a brilliant mishmash of African Jazz, soul and funk. What Rio has done with this track is re-imaging the African culture through contemporary sounds, instrumental rhythms and harmonies. He draws huge inspiration from fella, who pioneered Afrobeats and is focused in maximizing this influence to shape, inspire and further amplify the originality in this genre.
