This record produced by Telz is a prefect blend of the Afrobeat and the South African Zulu sound. It sees Burna Boy remembering, dwelling on his African root as a place of peace, relaxation family home and an environment of good vibe enriched with sounds and indigenous gbedu that would hit the soul.

The Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter, Burna Boy, was born in Lagos. He started producing music when he was ten years old. After graduating from college, Burna relocated to London for university. After two years, he dropped out and moved back to Nigeria to pursue his passion. A creative by the name of LeriQ allocated studio space for Burna to record and produce. His father always listened to dancehall and reggae music. This is where his early influence and music style stems from. His grandfather experimented with Afrobeat music and even managed Fela Kuti. LeriQ and Burna produced a track titled “Prefer to Party” which initiated his rise to prominence on a national and International level. His debut studio album, L.I.F.E. (Leaving An Impact for Eternity), received rave reviews and featured Wizkid, Timaya, Olamide, 2Baba and Reminisce.

His third and fourth studio album, “Outside” that housed the Monster hit ‘YE’ and “Africa Giant” with hit tracks; ‘Anybody’, ‘Dangote’, ‘Gbona’, ‘On The Low’, ‘Killin Dem’, ‘Gum Body’ among others were the two music project the made OluwaBurna who he is today, further known Internationally. Seun had taken to his Instagram page to explain that the common proverb that a woman’s place is not in the kitchen. He said that the proverb is nowhere equivalent in any African language and that Africans should stop attaching toxic masculinity to the African culture.

He wrote: ” A woman’s place is in the kitchen? Which kitchen? Whose kitchen? Not our ancestors kitchen! This proverb is European without any equivalent in any African language. So before you start attaching your toxic masculinity to African culture ask yourself this, do I know African culture?

As an African what culture practices of African heritage do I engage in? Religion education liberation? Dr Dre’s Wife of 24 Years, Nicole Young Reportedly Files For Divorce

Dr. Dre’s wife, Nicole Young, has filed for divorce from the rapper and businessman few months after their 24 wedding anniversary. 

The two tied the knot in May 1996 and recently celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary. Nicole Young filed the paperwork citing the usual irreconcilable differences as the reason for her split from the 55 year old hip-hop mogul. The estranged couple share two adult children, son Truice and daughter Truly.

There are also reports that the couple’s marriage has no prenup and the music mogul is worth an estimated $800M as of 2019. This fortune is due in part to his successful headphone line, Beats By Dr. Dre, which Apple acquired for $3 billion in 2014. It was also stated that  Young, 50 says that she and Dr. Dre have no prenup and that she would be seeking spousal support.

The rapper also has four children from previous relationships. Dr. Dre met Young in the mid-1990s while she was still married to then-husband Sedale Threatt. At the time, Dre reportedly penned a romantic letter to Young, convincing her to leave Threatt and pursue a relationship with him instead.

Inspector General Of Police Orders Probe Of Policemen That Arrested D’banj’s Rape Accuser, Seyitan

The Nigerian Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered the immediate investigation of the policemen who arrested music star, D’banj’s alleged rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo.

According to Seyitan, policemen pretending to be delivery men stormed her house and had her arrested after she revealed that she was raped by the singer. D’Banj was then probed by the inspector general of police in Abuja and Seyitan was made to send her statement from Lagos because she couldn’t afford to travel to Abuja.

According to Pulse NG, in a letter written by the Inspector General of Police, all policemen involved in the arrest must be probed. The letter titled, ‘Re: Petition Against Inspector Abraham, Supol Ugowe and the Entire Police Officers Team at Ikeja, Lagos Division of the Inspector General of Police’ the IGP asked that the petition from Seyitan Babatayo’s lawyer be addressed.

The petition from Babatayo’s legal representative, Ojoge, Omileye, and Partners alleges that the policemen attached to the Intelligence Response Team arrested Seyitan on D’Banj’s orders and detained her for over 24 hours. It was also stated that they denied her access to her phone and her lawyers and she was subjected to intimidation and psychological torture by the policemen.

“According to our client, she was told to write a statement denying ever meeting with Mr. Oyebanjo (D’Banj) and to also state that she lied against the person of Mr. Oyebanjo. In actual fact, our client was about to write the statement which she believed would be a basis for her release when the counsel came in and stopped her from writing such a statement.

The counsel further informed the policemen that all actions to the alleged rape of our client in December 2018 by Mr. Oyebanjo have been transferred to the DIG FCID for a thorough investigation and that they need to stay the action. The petition also states that that D’Banj’s Manager, Damien Okoroafor who later came to the police station, instigated the police who then refused to release Babatayo.

Barry Jay’s Record Label Boss, Kashy Arrested By EFCC For Internet Fraud

The owner of Barry Jay’s record label, Babatunde Oyerinde Abidoun, a.k.a. Kashy has been arrested by the EFCC for internet fraud.

The arrest of the CashNation Entertainment boss was disclosed by the EFCC via their official Twitter page. Biodun whose music record label which has singer Barry Jhay as one of its signees, was arrested at his residence in Lekki Conservative Estate, Lagos.

It was stated that Abiodun who shuttles between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, UAE, allegedly used the proceeds of his fraudulent activities to fund his lavish lifestyle. Further Investigations linked his fraudulent activities to his domestic staff, Thomas Aliu Akwu, who confessed to having different accounts domiciled in UBA, Ecobank, GTB, Zenith Bank, and FCMB and also receiving money for his boss through the accounts.

The singer whose debut album, is arguably the best performing album of 2020, spilt the tea that he was earlier offered a deal by Ubi Franklin to sign to MMMG after departing Universal Music and he eventually did not sign, although Ubi Franklin is still one of his biggest fans. He also talked about the success of his album “Boo of the Booless”, pop music, comparisons with Johnny Drille, his sophomore album, future collaborations, the Covid-19 pandemic and more.

Bugatti Records (Home To KINGP) Marks Eight Years Of Entertaining Africa

Since its inception some years back, Bugatti Recording Group (BRG) has established itself as one of the most popular and respected record labels in Nigeria.

It has been eight years since the company was floated by Promise Ilebor, popularly known as KINGP, a music act on the label who has used his resources and face to take the label to enviable heights.

Over the years, Bugatti Records has given Nigerians hit songs that have redefined the music space and entertained music lovers as their in-house music producer, Smoothkiss and music star, KINGP have been joining forces to put the label on the global map.

The label is currently on a roller coaster of success with new songs and videos being released back to back from KINGP and also trending within and outside the shores of the country.

Bugatti Records in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Tunde Ajibade, otherwise known as Dalglish of BRG, said ‘The company has risen from an ordinary record label to one of the labels making Nigeria and Africa proud‘.

He added that the label was established by KINGP to create platforms to many artistes in order to showcase their talents to the world.

Over the years, the label has remained true to itself with collaborations and songs with some of the countries music stars from 9ice to Olamide, Zlatan, Zoro among others.

An award ceremony done to celebrate black excellence in entertainment and sports which was Hosted by Amada Seales virtually award saw performance from Summer Walker, Alicia Keys, Dababy, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wanye, Roddy Ricch and other A list artist. Beyonce Knowles was Awarded the 2020 Humanitarian a special category award and also a special tribute performance was done for Kobe Bryant by Lil Wanye.

Drake who lead this year’s pool (BET Awards 2020) with six nominations, went home with just one. Megan Thee Stallion, who received five nods, took home two trophies, Blue Ivy Carter, at age 8, won her very first BET Award with mom Beyonce And Roddy Ricch got the Best New Act award.

Burna Boy Wins BET Awards 2020 Defeats Stormzy, Dave and Other International Acts, Making It Twice In A Row

For the Second time in a row Burna Boy emerges winner of the BET Best International Act 2020 Awards. Beating the likes of U.K acts; Dave and Stormzy who where big names the same category.

(Burna Boy Wins BET Awards 2020)…. The BET 2020 Awards was held on the 28th of June 2020 virtually at L.A, Los Angeles, US which went Live in the early hours of Monday (29th, June around 2am) in Nigeria. Hosted by Amada Seales this year’s virtual award show saw performance from Summer Walker, Alicia Keys, Dababy, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wanye, Roddy Ricch and other A list artist. Also with a special tribute performance for Kobe Bryant delivered by Lil Wanye.

Nigerians main focus of the BET Awards 2020 were of 2 categories; The ‘Best International Act‘ which had Burna Boy on it and ‘The Best New International Act‘ that had Rema nominated for Viewers choice. While Rema lost to Sha Sha from Zimbabwe, Burna Boy clinched first in his own category and brought home the BET Awards 20.

The Nigerian singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu Rex popularly known as Burna Boy aka OluwaBurna was nominated alongside United Kingdom buzzing acts Dave and Stormzy, France finest singers; Ninho and S.Pri, DRC rave act- Innoss’B with South African’s Sho Madjozi for the BET 2020 Awards and claimed the titled once again. In 2019 he won the same category defeating Mr Eazi, AKA, Dave, Giggs, Dosseh and Aya Nakaruma. This made it a two time in a row wins for the African Giant.

In his acceptance speech which was done virtually he pointed out that now is the time for Africa to lead and dominate; ”Second time and I appreciate it. I will like to use this opportunity to say that sometime around 1835, there was admission to turn the nation of Africa into a dominated nation. Now is the time to return and go back to the royalty that we were because in order for black lives to matter, Africa must matter.” … Watch his Acceptance speech below
