Adekunle Gold’s Tequila Ever After – Album Review

Tequila Ever After album

Afro-Pop fast-rising star, Adekunle Gold, has released a new album, “Tequila Ever After”. The flavorful collection, which is the Afro-Pop star’s sixth studio album (and Def Jam’s debut), packs a powerful punch.

The 17-track project was preceded by the hits “Party No Dey Stop,” “Ogaranya,” and songs from his earlier this year released “Tio Tequila” EP. Notably, along with Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Khalid, Coco Jones, and the performer’s wife Simi, we witness a diverse group of collaborators joining Adekunke Gold on the album. In fact, Labrinth and Gold’s longtime rhyme partner Kel-P are among the producers on the track.

Remarkably, Adekunle Gold has demonstrated on this album that he is full of confidence. This album is being hailed as a love letter to the African music that has spread worldwide (such as Afrobeats and Amampiano). Read on as we provide a detailed track-by-track review of the Tequila Ever After album by Adekunle Gold.

  1. Chasing Peace of Mind ft. Ami Faku & Habib Koité

This is a remarkable album opener by Adekunle Gold that resonates how much confidence he has in his own rebranded style now. The first track of the “Tequila Ever After” album, “Chasing Peace of Mind” where he featured South African, Ami Faku, and Mailan, Habib Koité, is an explicit song where AG baby sings about putting his mental wellness and peace first.

  1. Party No Dey Stop ft. Zinoleesky

With production credit going to Kel-P, “Party No Dey Stop” which includes Zinoleesky, one of the young and gifted vocalists from Nigeria, on the track has gone to be one of the biggest hits this year 2023, plus it is still being for Song of the Summer.

  1. Soro

This is another remarkable Afrobeats tune by Adekunle Gold, the rhythm and melody is one every music lover would love to see the superstar perform. Soro literally translates to “Talk” in English, and the track specially entertains us with the theme of him trying to have a good conversation with a girl he wants.

  1. Tio Baby

The sequence of the album is enjoyable as Adekunle Gold delves straight to another track with his put Afro-Pop element. Tio Baby is an enthralling track that hypes up his admiration for his lover who only he only wants to have a beautiful time with.

  1. Ogaranya

Ogaranya is one of the lead tracks of the “Tequila Ever After” album released by Adekunle Gold. The song really proves that AG is going up the ladder in the music scene as he is even heard bragging on this song that he knows he is on another level now.

  1. Wrong Person ft. ODUMODUBLVCK

“Wrong Person” is an exciting and cool track that contains a theme where Adekunle Gold makes it clear that he’s the wrong person to mess with. And who else is a befitting collaboration to make up for such strong statement but ODUMODUBLVCK? The touch rapper has had an incredible run this year and being featured on Tequila Ever After continues his fascinating run this year 2023.

  1. Don’t Be A Baby

The seventh track of the “Tequila Ever After” album, “Don’t Be A Baby”, may not be the biggest hit as it is a low-tempo tune where Adekunle Gold flexes his diversity in sounds. “Don’t Be A Baby” is definitely a jam for the parties and the girls.

  1. Do You Mind?

“Do You Mind” is one of the beautiful pre-releases that Adekunle Gold already stunned his music lovers with this year. The singer exhibits his tremendous talent to the world yet again; his voice and delivery on this most recent work are so powerful and on-point that one would love to listen to it often without growing weary.

  1. Sisi Ganja

Sisi Ganja is yet another exciting track that Adekunle Gold drops on the “Tequila Ever After” album. The track’s theme, typically, is about a baddie or girl who always tries to  get his attention.

  1. Make It Easy ft. Coco Jones

This track sounds exquisite and like the new alternative sounds that Adekunle Gold has been trying to push out. This is a great duet in which he features the beautiful vocals of Coco Jones to produce a befitting and lovable tune.

  1. Not My Problem

Not My Problem may sound like the vintage Adekunle Gold where he sounds explosive in his alternative style and element. It’s pretty cool to see him really confident and shining in his own brand and aura.

  1. Kere

Kere sounds more like the tracks which focus on the intent of the then of the “Tequila Ever After” album. It’s a track where he mentions Yoruba – they think he is quite small, yet they try to copy his style. What a vibe from AG baby.

  1. Look What You Made Me Do ft. Simi

Adekunle Gold collaborates with award-winning Nigerian chanteuse and wife – the beautiful diva, Simi – on the well-crafted song, “Look What You Made Me Do”. As expected, Simi’s sonorous vocals and wonderful lyrics give the song a sensuous vibe that compliments Adekunle Gold’s style perfectly and makes it a memorable musical experience.

  1. Omo Eko

Omo Eko as the title says is a song for Lagos Boys or Lagos-bred folks who can relate perfectly to the night and club life that’s never really ending. Adekunle Gold comes with a vibe that depicts he is actually the life of the party as he brings the most supreme vibes when he chills with his folks.

  1. Come Back To Me ft. Khalid

In partnership with the American vocalist, Khalid, Adekunle Gold has created and emerged with yet another carefully crafted track on his “Tequila Ever After” album that he has titled “Come Back To Me”. The music is so poetic and the US singer also does well to complement Adekunle Gold’s soothing voice.

  1. Falling Up ft. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers

“Falling Up” is a song that everyone would enjoy regardless of whether they listen to Afrobeat, Pop, RnB, or just good music. Notably, Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, two outstanding American music producers, are featured on the song “Falling Up”. This song is taken to a higher level by their talent for creating fascinating beats and melodies.

  1. To My Own

“To My Own” is another good record that Adekunle Gold demonstrates and performs smoothly to show he is on top of his world and game. The melody is a bop and this makes it one of the excellent tunes you’d find on the “Tequila Ever After” album.

  1. All My Life

“All My Life” comes on as the outro track of the “Tequila Ever After” album. It’s not an exciting or jumping tune, instead Adekunle Gold comes through with a soothing and relaxing vibe with an uplifting Afrobeats rhythm. Adekunle Gold really dipped his art in Gold on this project!

New EP- “Chequemate” by Cheque

Chequemate

Talented Nigerian rapper, Cheque drops a new EP title “Chequemate”, consisting of 6 dope tracks- it features 2 artistes; Fireboy DML & Crayon.

CHEQUEMATE EP– Since breaking through with 2020’s “Zoom“, Cheque has stood out among Afropop’s newest generation of stars for the sonic choices that propelled his breakout project, Razor. Working with a distinct sonic palette that couches his traditionalist rap flows into sure-footed doses of saccharine earworms and heart-wrenching melodies, the sing-rapping hybrid (born Akanbi Bamidele Brett) is adept at bending influences from cloud-rap, emo-pop and Afrobeats into something wholly transformative and incisive all. at once. The release of his debut LP, 2022’s Bravo, expanded on his public narrative while adding more exciting twists to his fusionist sound.

On his latest project, Chequemate, the Penthauze rapper continues to deftly sidestep categorisation while fine-tuning the formula that has made him one of Nigeria’s most highly regarded musicians. Recorded in an excitinc blend of Yoruba, English and pidgin, this Six-tracker sees Cheque contemplate destiny, romantic affiliations and his place in the game over midtempo instrumentals mostly crafted by talented beatsmith Ozedikus. “Shine” is a call to stay the course, while close friend Fireboy DML joins for another installation of their collaborative efforts on “Hustler“. There is a prominent hip-hop bounce on “Way Too Young“, where Cheque explains that he’s too young to be stressed, while “LPD” is a dedication to his fans and supporters.

At its best and most engaging, Chequemate is a charming reminder of Cheque’s knack for crafting genre-fluid bops that live long in the memory, as he does on “Sunflawa” in tandem with Mavin singer Crayon.

Listen To The New Album Title “Maverick” by Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel album

Released July 28, 2023, Maverick is an album by Kizz Daniel that consists of 20 tracks and features; Johnny Drille, Becky G, Pryme, Tekno, Young Jonn, Yemi Alade, Blaqbonez, Chike, Nots and more.

Kizz Daniel arrived fully formed with new album- MAVERICK. Since lasering his way into the Nigerian mainstream with his 2014 hit single, “Woju“, the singer has maintained a definitive grip on the pulse of popular African music with a sound that is as pithy as it is declarative. A combination of the singer’s iconoclastic public profile and an unbeatable knack for deftly melding influences from hip-hop, pop, and R&B into his no-frills Afropop interpretation has made Kizz Daniel (Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe) an unavoidable fixture on the Afropop scene.

New Era, Kizz’s highly regarded debut allbum that’s widely seen as one of the best in the genre’s contemporary history, set the stage for a two-album run from No Bad Songz to King Of Love that placed the singer on a pedestal. Things further kicked up a notch for the noticeably-reclusive singer following the release of 2021’s Barnabas. His 2022 singles “Buga (Lo Lo Lo)” and “Cough (Odo)” brought his svelte voice into the global arena.

On his 2023 album Maverick, the singer continues to play at his own pre-determined pace, Rather than make a synchronised attempt at global stardom, Kizz is as keen as ever to invert such expectations and draw the world to him on his own terms as he wholeheartedly embraces his role as Afropop’s leading maverick.

The songs on album number four reflect of the singer’s worldview as he continues to make rich soul-pop fusions crafted in his signature sonorous Afropop croon. “My G” is a playful plea to be allowed to carry out his business as he pleases, while “One Dollar” is an innovative detour for the singer who accelerates his flow to match a jaunty opening by rapper Blaqbonez.

As always, love plays a crucial role in forming the narrative of Maverick but, here, the singer’s reflections on love extend to involve his children, who make an appearance on “Feran You Two” before he emotionally declares his devotion to them.

Listen and Enjoy!

Melanie Martinez – EVIL (Lyrics)

Off PORTALS album by Melanie Martinez, Here’s the official lyrics for the track “EVIL“.

EVIL LYRICS (Melanie Martinez)

You called the other day, I stayed away
I left your shit on read, four times today
And it felt like bliss, used to miss your kiss
Now I’m hop-skip jumpin’ over narcissists
Throwing all your stuff into the abyss
Now the role is reversed and told you I’ma switch
How you like my spit?
That’s for all the pits, that you left me in
See, the horns on my head they’re from goddesses
Goddesses, on god

No, I never knew what it meant
What it meant to be content with you
Everything I expressed, I professed
It never quite made it through
Said it’s all in my head, all in my head
Whenever I spoke my truth
No, I won’t defend you to all my friends
This time, I refuse

If you bite my hand again
I will never feed you, you can call me evil
Take it to the grave if you wanna play pretend
I won’t be mistreated, please call me conceited
Took me way too long to put this to bed
Lovin’ you was lethal, guess that makes me evil, evil

Evil, evil, evil

Remember when you smiled right to my face?
As all my little tears of oxalate
They made a shape, revealed a snake
Now I’m stop-drop rollin’ over all your jokes
Every time you tell a lie I’m prayin’ that you choke
Should’ve listened to the signs and the horoscopes
Hope you never cope, hope you slip on soap
Crack your head like an egg, wanna see the yolk
You were such a hoax

No, I never knew what it meant
What it meant to be content with you
Everything I expressed, I professed
It never quite made it through
Said it’s all in my head, all in my head
Whenever I spoke my truth
No, I won’t defend you to all my friends
This time, I refuse

If you bite my hand again
I will never feed you, you can call me evil
Take it to the grave if you wanna play pretend
I won’t be mistreated, please call me conceited
Took me way too long to put this to bed
Lovin’ you was lethal, guess that makes me evil, evil

If you bite my hand again
I will never feed you, you can call me evil
Take it to the grave if you wanna play pretend
I won’t be mistreated, please call me conceited
Took me way too long to put this to bed
Lovin’ you was lethal, guess that makes me evil, evil

Evil, evil, evil, evil
Evil, evil, evil, evil

Lovin’ you was lethal, guess that makes me evil

Lil Durk – B12 Lyrics

Lil Durk

Here’s Lil Durk Lyrics to the track “B12”.

B12 LYRICS (by Lil Durk)

McLaren Speedtail
Six carats in my ear for detail
I be gettin’ all my watches retail
Caught a murder, he tryna call Meek Mill
Sold him lean, but Doodie got his refill
I know real killers act like females
All the trenches bitches give me tea still
How you kill him? Bro, I need the details
Adderall, feel like it’s mixed with B12
You kept tellin’ all my secrets, be real
Headshot, stop runnin’, be still
I could shake a whole block with these pills
This a striker, I don’t know why you need L’s
Pull up to a whole mosque and pray still
Follow bro car ’cause he got the switch
I don’t be poppin’ ’cause you died and you diss
Crush a Perc’ inside a Sierra Mist
Bitch was poppin’, had to give her a kiss
I ain’t puttin’ my name on hits
Why you braggin’? Niggas ain’t kill shit
Hopped out on feet like he ran out of gas
I call him Yeat ’cause he stay with his mask
How you got it, but you stay with your mans?
Legs tatted, had to go get some Vans
Fifteen million cash, that’s my advance
Fuck a opp bitch to get in her head
Think I love her, I’m tryna plot on her man
Think I love her, I’m tryna kill his ass
You a killer? Jam, check his referral
Flawless diamonds, you rock it better with curls
On a date, I gotta take her to Harold’s
These Chanel, these ain’t regular pearls

I’m so high off this X pill
I don’t give no fuck how my ex feel
Your new nigga ain’t put you on no jet still
Why send shots like he a threat? Yeah

Still use cash with the card on file
Check what you drinkin’, they water it down
Said what you said, you a part of it now
Chance after chance, I done gave you a pound
Feds on your ass, gotta bury it now
I popped a Addy, I barely pronounce
Eyeball the weed and it’s barely a ounce
Watch how you speak, you could bury your spouse
Bro, I got M’s and I slept on the couch
Ain’t got a bond, it got inherit amount
My budget two million, the killers is out
I get my teeth from the Mouth of the South
Got the location, you not in your house
How do it feel to have Glocks in your mouth?
I know you broke ’cause they froze your account
Feel like a goofy promotin’ the clown
I told my lawyer I’m sober now
Run up a check ’cause I’m older now
Got who we want, so it’s over now
How you slide, but ain’t nobody vouch?
Counterfeit money, ain’t nobody count
How you think I got two hundred pounds?
Fifties, fifties, fifties, two hundred rounds
Out of jail early, you know that he foul
Nike ski mask to cover the brows
No Auto, pain, I got a couple of styles
I done paid for a couple of trials
I done slaid me a couple of dials
Call her now ’cause I ain’t fuck in a while
I got love for bro, he holdin’ me down
Frrt, hold a couple of rounds
Frrt, standin’ over him now, yeah

I’m so high off this X pill
I don’t give no fuck how my ex feel
Your new nigga ain’t put you on no jet still
Why send shots like he a threat? Yeah

Kelly Hansome ‘Disgraced’ Out of APC Meeting in America – VIDEO

Members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), America chapter, on Sunday kicked out Nigerian Singer Kelly Hansom for challenging the status quo.

In a video shared on Instagram, the US-based music star was seen being escorted out of the building. This came after he voiced his discontentment with the events unfolding in their home State, Imo.

Addressing the altercation that took place during the meeting, the US-based singer, through his Instagram account, clarified that certain political figures in his state, including Senator Athan Achonuwere, attempted to suppress his freedom of speech.

Hansome made a claim that his sole purpose during the meeting, was to correct the information regarding the insecurity in Imo state, which he asserted was financially supported by the state government under the leadership of Hope Uzodinma.

He strongly reiterated that no individual should ever collaborate with others in an effort to destroy his people, firmly stating that such actions are unacceptable.

Sharing the video, Kelly Hansome wrote:

“Trying to practice the suppression of the freedom of speech in a country where there is respect for human rights is a dumb move. They called the police to escort me out and I left, honorably. No disrespect intended, just the truth. Everybody knows the truth. ????#imostate

“You came to know our mind and we have told you our mind and you have asked us out and we’re out. That’s suspicious. Where’s the money? Nowhere. So, stop speaking English.”

In another post, he added,

”Senator Atan invited me to join the an Imo State forum apparently organized by APC to canvass for another 4 years of failure to do the needful. I’m trying to set the records straight about his statement on the insecurity issues in Imo State, he iindirectly admitted that the government of IMO state was responsible for the insecurity in Imo State that took lives of our loved ones over there and has kept the whole state in fear and unrest.

“He said, I stood up to tell him a that that was not ok. Denying the situation on ground while trying to make us believe that the news we hear o we here in the diaspora is made up to create a false representation of the real situation on Ground, is not ok. We have people living there as we speak so we get reports directly from them and we know it is not ok. Nobody should collaborate with anyone to destroy his own people, that is not ok.

“It would have been better to come clean saying, we have failed you so, what do we do to make things better starting from this moment? Not trying to fool us into thinking that we are delusional. No, we are well informed. Can you beat a child and tell a child not to cry? No! And they called the security to walk me out. No issues but I have spoken the mind of the Imo people.” {SIC}
