The Man vs. The Artist: A preview of Kizz Daniel’s Sophomore Album “No Bad Songz”

Every great artist in history has had their lows and highs; Flyboy INC. boss and frontline act Kizz Daniel is no different. The former G-Worldwide singer most notably got into a legal tussle with the aforementioned label after announcing last year that he was leaving to start his own imprint. A major highlight of his career was carting home 3 major awards at the 2016 Headies after missing out on the Next Rated award the previous year. It appears his career has grown in leaps and bounds since then.

Kizz Daniel’s forthcoming album has been titled No Bad Songz which alludes to the fact that he has not released a song which has been widely criticized, because let’s face it, the subjective nature of music makes it difficult for everyone to like each song. The artwork for this forthcoming album which was released last week is a brilliant illustration which plays on imagery sum up Kizz Daniel’s career so far, a case of the man himself versus the artist.

As most people tend to forget, artists themselves are human beings and go through most of the life struggles other humans do. This was highlighted with the “angel” and “devil” trying to whisper into his ears. As humans, some of the things we go through are easier dealt with the right people around, but how do you sift the bad from the good, the honest friends from the ones that just stick around for their gains?

On the other hand, even while facing all the problems in his personal life, the artwork paints a picture on an artist who goes through it all as a human but still squarely faces the music and churns out premium content for his teeming fans. His debut album, New Era had three previously released singles that had brought him major fame. The result was a very deserves Album of the Year award at the aforementioned 2016 Headies. He has gone one since then to put up quite an awesome repertoire. Let’s go through them, shall we? Sofa, Yeba, No Do, 4Dayz, For You featuring Wizkid not to mention prominent features on DJ Spinall’s Baba, DJ Neptune’s Wait and Seyi Shay’s Surrender.

Let’s face it, through the highs and lows of his career; winning awards, tearing up shows or slugging it in court with his ex-label, the only constant remains the music which has been top notch. Can we expect same of No Bad Songz? Well, time will be the eventual judge of posterity. We can also expect major collaborations which were missing on his New Era (still a pretty awesome body of work) album.
