JJC Skillz & Funke Akindele Plead Guilty, Court Sentences Them To Pay N100k Fine & 14 Day Community Service

Singer, JJC Skillz and his wife, Funke Akindele pleaded guilty to the one count charge of defiling the orders of the Lagos state government on public gatherings and social distancing.

JJC and Funke were arrested for holding a house party in their Lagos home on Sunday, the 4th of April, 2020 despite the restriction in movement and social distancing order issued by the state government as part of measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state.

A Magistrate court sitting in Lagos today sentenced the couple to 14 days community service each. The court also directed them to pay a fine of N100,000. The duo pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of hosting a gathering of 20 persons and over, contrary to the social distancing directives of the Lagos State Government.

JJC Skillz and his wife were arraigned at the Samuel Ilori Courthouse of the Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos. The charge against them is made pursuant to Regulation 8(1a &b) and S 17(1) of the State’s Infectious Disease Regulation 2020.
