9 Nigerian Songs

In this week’s episode, Rema, Kizz Daniel, Dj Cuppy, Pop Smoke, Adekunle Gold, Zlatan, made the list. We bring to you music that’s hitting speakers and climbing charts, songs that would put you through the week.

On this episode of Nigerian songs you should listen to for the week, we’ve got tracks from the newbies shaking the music scene and some of the OGs. Here’s our round-up of the best tracks that came across our desks you should.

Naira Marley – “As E Do Go”

Produced by Rexxie, this is another street anthem for the Marlians and so far it has been the go-to music for users of Thriller and Tik Tok and other social media platforms. Similar to his hit track “Aye,” Naira Marley talks deep about life and incorporates his popular slangs, ‘Inside Life’ and ‘Mafo’. This track also comes with a dance step tagged the Wuge Dance that currently loved by both young and old. It’s a must-listen if you want to connect with your groovy side this week.

DJ Cuppy – “Jollof On The Jet” ft Rema & Rayvanny

Eating Jollof rice on a jet is something only the wealthy can relate to but Cuppy makes us feel like we can feel the experience when this track comes on. The award-winning disc jockey who is gearing for the release of her debut album “Original Copy” teamed up with Mavin superstar, Rema, and Tanzanian sensational singer, Rayvanny.  The track is a perfect blend of highlife and Afro-pop instrumental with an addictive rhythm that sees both all three in sync. This song is a jam!!

Rema – “Ginger Me”

This track is still buzzing even without a music video and this list would be incomplete without it. “Ginger Me” is a soul, pop, afro-Indie jam produced by The Element. It’s a love song that sees a young boy putting his bad-boy behavior/swag aside to confess his love feelings to the lady that hypes his system. It’s got a catchy chorus; one of those songs you don’t realize when it ends because it keeps playing in your head. This one is another banga!

Pop Smoke – “Tsunami” Ft Davido

In a bid for fans to connect with the rapper who was killed earlier this year, his posthumous album ‘‘Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon” was released. Its deluxe version was released and Davido who happens to be a good pal of the slain rapper was featured on the album with track “Tsunami“.. Take a seat and relax to this cool track that has been buzzing since the album was released.

Adekunle Gold – “AG Baby”

Adekunle Gold came through with this track to remind fans that he’s not only Adejare’s daddy but still everyone’s baby. After the success of “Something Different” a bopping sound that is still making waves in the music sphere, the singer featured vocals from Trinidad’s Nailah Blackman for “AG Baby”. The highly irresistible track which blends Caribbean rhythms, highlife grooves, and pop influences is to prepare  fans ahead of his forthcoming third album, Afro Pop: Volume 1.”

Rema – “Woman”

Rema’s “Woman” is still topping charts. After declaring love for one woman in “Ginger Me,” he puts on his bad boy cape and sings about loving plenty of women. He can’t seem to make up his mind and he keeps on switching it up in every track. Well, get ready to put on your dancing shoes for this track because Rema came through with some kind of crazy spiritual vibes. An interesting feature of this track is the catchy phrases like “Asampeteprokotomakule” and “Sa koloweko”. Get ready to put on your dancing shoes to this bopping sound.

Note: do not listen to this track in a public place because once the spirit comes over you, people might have no other choice to…, you know..errm…tie you up with chains and stuff…

Kizz Daniel – “Aii”

After delivering a couple of smash singles, Kizz Daniel followed up his “No Bad Songs” era with the “King of Love” album. ‘Aii’ one of the tracks off the album is yet another smashing song which is tailored to be a hit with the women. The men can also relate because it sees Kizz Daniel assure his lover miles away that he is all for her and nobody else. The track has a funny and captivating visualizer which makes the song more fun to listen to.

Zlatan – “Shomo” ft. Jamopyper, Oberz, Papisnoop

“Shomo” meaning “Do You Know?” is an impressive track by the Zanku World President himself featuring his ZZTW soldiers- Jamopyper, Oberz, and Papisnoop and is off the new body of work ‘Road To CDK‘ released under Zanku Records. The song talks about always giving life more chances, creating more rooms for other opportunities, and not letting a failure/problem shapen one or be the reason to end a life. This track serves to boost the morale or lift the spirits of anyone and is going through a tough time

Kizz Daniel – “Chek”

Another bop off his captivating and buzzing “King Of Love”  ‘Chek’ sees Kizz Daniel personify a smitten man who lustfully describes his woman’s features and his sexual appetite.  The track has sweet lyrics like “Baby you correct oh, chek, Check am kpe kpe kpe, chek, Your back na nyam yam, chek, Jos na nma ma, chek”and a Ghanaian feel that would love to vibe to.
