The Nigerian Police force has dismissed claims that D’Banj’s rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo was arrested and detained by them.
It would be recalled that Seyitan was reportedly arrested and detained by the Nigerian police in Ikeja for over 24 hours. She was allegedly denied access to her legal team and bullied by D’Banj and his team. Seyitan also revealed that she was made to sleep in the same cell with hardened criminals.
However, a police source who spoke with Vanguard debunked the claims stating that she was only invited to give her written statement and be interrogated. The source added that there may have been a mix up by her legal representative and that both the singer and accuser were invited to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, to give written statements and for interrogation.
But on three separate occasions, Seyitan didn’t show up, which evoked the Force CID to dispatch officers to Lagos to invite her for her written statement and interrogation on the alleged rape.
