Nigerian street artist and Record label boss, Naira Marley has volunteered to sing the new national anthem following the proposal to change Nigeria’s name to the United African Republic (UAR).
Yesterday, Adeleye Jokotoye, a tax consultant submitted the proposal to the House Of Representatives Special committee on Constitution Review.
According to him, Nigeria’s current name was an imposition of its past colonial masters and should be changed. He opines that a change of name for the country would physically and psychologically reflect a new beginning for its citizens.
As expected, Nigerians took to social media to air their views about the proposal to Change Nigeria, a name given by Flora Shaw to UAR.
Also reacting to the news, Naira Marley took to his Twitter to account to offer his free service to the new nation. According to him, he will be taking up the role of Pa Benedict Odise who composed Nigerian’s second anthem in 1978.
